Why can't flag carriers one punch kill anymore?

It’s a serious question I’m not complaining, I just find it odd that 343i removed this feature. Every halo even halo 4 has given the flag carrier the ability to one punch kill, 2 for over shields. Im just wondering why they can’t now.

they felt like it idk lol

It was kind of overpowered IMO. With the dash it would be like an energy sword.

bc 343 was like “I bet some dude will complain if we make the flag carrier not one-punch kill anyone” “GREAT IDEA”

It wouldn’t be overpowered it would make carriers able to actually get a cap by themselves.

As I said I’m not complaining I just find it to be an interesting decision also its waypoint when is someone not constantly complaining at 343

But the point of halo 5 (actually halo in general) is teamwork. They shouldn’t be able to one-hit kill or else it wouldn’t require teamwork.

Team work in halo 5 hahahaha now that’s funny. Well the original ctf required actual teamwork. Since you were slower and didn’t have any of these crazy unneeded abilities

These teamwork excuses are funny. It should be one punch kill, as it was before. You cannot sprint with the flag and you have a pistol so you’re already handicapped…

I don’t think the pistol should be counted as handicapped anymore. I just think that the one shot kill was like an energy sword.

well i agree that it should be a one hit kill, i think that was always a great part of halo. ball, bomb, and flag should always be one hit kill in my opinion. the bomb/ball they are bringing for assault will be one hit kill. the reason flag is not one hit kill is because of the flagnum. 343 has written about this numerous times and you can find articles that they address this issue.

if there was no flagnum i would think they would have made the flag one hit kill. as it is the flag carrier would be way too powerful if he had a magnum and a one hit kill flag. because of the new spartan abilities and more open maps it makes melee with a flag nearly impossible (i mostly only see flag assassinations if anyone is hitting someone with the flag in this game). i think this is why they opted to stick with the flagnum (and adding juggling to the mix, halo 4 lacked this i believe). i think they have found a pretty good balance because the flag carrier can still lay down cover fire and defend himself without dropping the flag and giving away his location. i was pretty against the flagnum when i found it wouldnt be one hit kill, but i can say that i find it to be better to have the magnum than a one hit kill flag…

After the advent of the flagnum, the flag carriers ability to cap by themselves increased. Taking out the instant melee kill seemed like a reasonable balance idea in order to prevent the flag carrier from being a tank. At first it seemed a bit odd to me that the flag was no longer a one hit kill, but the pistol compensates for that and than some.

You realize you also have a pistol, sprint, charge, and an option for secondary right? That automatically makes you more powerful than the flag guy. Plus he’s freaking marked when shot at! Also, if you are beat by pistol so easily, then pick up a power weapon. Flag guys can’t use power weapons while carrying the flag, so what’s the issue??? Yes pistol is awesome now, but that means you have one too (and more).

They wanted CTF to be about defense and not offense. They took huge strides in that category.

I was just saying that the pistol doesn’t make you handicapped not that it is overpowered. If you want my reasoning, listen to this guy. He pretty much sums it up.

He says why it’s not a one hit kill.

They already are making the bomb a one punch kill so why not the flag punch as well.

But everyone immediately knows where you are when you get shot. So if 3 people swarm you how so you kill even 1 of them

Yep, I’m with you.

I guess 343i thought it would make them too OP with a one hit melee and a pistol.

When clearly it wouldnt

I’m fine with it either way. You still have a magnum and your team should be protecting you.
