I’ve seen various threads arguing their point on which features Halo 4 should have and some of them arguing for/against AAs/dual wielding. The default controls for Reach/3 use the same buttons for using AAs and dual wielding so why not use those buttons interchangeably. I believe the button to pick up a 2nd weapon is “Y” and the button to reload “LB”. So when you are dual wielding, you can’t use your AAs. When you pummel to drop your weapon, your “LB” button can now be used for your AAs.
There would be bonuses and drawbacks to each. You dual wield you can’t use AAs or grenades, you want to use your AAs then you can’t dual wield.
Please state your opinion if this would or work or not.
Duel wielding shouldn’t come back as a mechanic. It only proves to weaken weapons in the sandbox so that it becomes a good option to pursue without making it OP. Whether or not it can coexist with AA’s is irrelevant.

Good point, I do prefer the Reach pistol to the Halo 3 pistol, for example. But if there is dual weilding in Halo 4, I just want to show that they can coexist with AAs.

That’s not to say, however, that it be excluded from the game entirely. I believe it can be implemented as individual weapon mechanic rather than an overall mechanic. For example, instead of having a standalone SMG, you would always have two and be able to them as if they are one weapon. however, with the increased output of two such weapons, nades and bashing would be blocked off until you switch weapons.
I’m not suggesting that we don’t have have our scoped Pistols, because that would be just plain stupid for Halo.

Not saying I disagree but Halo 2 and Halo 3 would like a word with you.

It was plain stupid then, it would be plain stupid now. Both of those Pistols were never as significant as the ones in CE and Reach (except duel-wield Magnums in pre-patch Halo 2), and for the sake of balance should never have happened.

The pistol itself may not have been as effective as CE’s or Reach’s. But that didn’t stop me from having my best experience in MP with halo 2. The pistol was a great dual-wielding weapon. And though I would prefer a scoped Pistol, I aslo wouldnt mind the return of Halo 2’s iteration of the pistol.
The Halo 3 pistol on the other had was practically useless.

Just because it did not work before doesn’t mean it can’t ever work. We have a new developer with new ideas. Dual Wielding doesn’t work the same as it did in Halo 3 as it did in Halo 2 and why would the mechanic in Halo 4 any different?
Who says we have to choose between say a scoped pistol and no dual wielding or an unscoped pistol and no dual wielding? We had to in past games but why does it have to be the case now?
Why couldn’t we have say a Unsuppresed ODST pistol where the scope was disabled while dual wielding? Or Plasma Rifles that had stun but the effect was removed or reduced for dual wielding?
I agree that weapons should be built as solid stand alone weapons first and dual wielding second but I don’t think that means we have to choose. A lack of dual wielding doesn’t guarantee solid weapons (see Reach non headshot weapons).
Think outside the box a little.
As for AAs I would not want them to return as they were in Reach. Ideally they would be a combination of AAs and equipment.
-Spawn only on the map
-Limited but not always single use(Some could be one use like a tripmine or have limited fuel)
-visible on the player(Like a Jetpack level of visibility)
-Can be picked up off of fallen players.

Duel wielding should return. And for armour effects? I don’t see why you don’t still have them, but make them single use (aka have a power bar that runs out) and make it so you pick up power cells for your ability off the map. To make them more like equipment, that way it will fit better with halo 3.
