why can't 343 make classic looking armor ?

I’m probably going to get a lot of criticism from grammer police for this forum but don’t care they can go stick a nutty bar up their but so here we go

lets talk about the armor like The new dynast set coming out is it supposed to be CQB or something because it looks nothing like why can’t they make direct remakes of the original CQB I mean come on for example The Mark v Alpha I like the armor but redo the helmet the proportions on it are all wrong it’s ugly , remake the odst from halo 4 and replace the nightfall armor with it, it actually looks better odst copy and paste it from halo 4 or something they could’ve copied and pasted the classic mark v from halo 4 all I’m saying is stop ruining the armor making it look like a computer monitor or trash can give us the classics to be honest I feel like their putting zero effort into these armors. Question is why can’t they make classic Armor remakes ?

Eh, I thought the Nightfall armor looked pretty good back in the Beta. No idea what happened to it afterwards, because it looks hideous now. I guess it is a little bit redeemable if you use it with the Helljumper helmet. Then you look like an ODST, sort of.

Beta Nightfall was gorgeous. Guess it got malformed due to the introduction of the Helljumper armor variant.

Either way, I support the OP. I’d love to see more classic armor sets instead of lame “ripoffs” like the Dynast and MV Alpha.

There could still be a ODST armor set in the works…

Oh, 343i can definitely make classic-looking armour. Look at all of Blue Team’s armour and Technician and Helljumper. And there’s also good old Mark IV and Noble that are classic helmets, as well as the Buccaneer helmet that looks like Halo 3 EVA. Making great Halo armour is definitely within their abilities. I think that, for whatever reason, 343i chooses to just make armour that doesn’t fit in with previously established designs purposely. Whether it’s because they want to be different from Bungie and will do whatever they can do distance themselves from them, or they want super tacky and over the top designs, or want to push their “Wargames is a super duper popular sport in-universe so our Spartans will look like power ranger sport cars” mentality, they just don’t want to stick to what made Halo’s designs so unique and interesting.

I totally agree with you OP. I hate the fact that the Mark VI set is a redesign. They even bothered to put in 2 completely different sets, Mark VI GEN1 and Mark VI, and the GEN 1 version still looks almost exactly like the “current gen” GEN 2 version. I just wish they could just port Chief’s model for Halo 2 Anniversary and make it a set.

I really liked the idea of the Mark V Alpha, but the helmet is pretty derp looking, squished down with hardly any bit of visor hanging off the top. The Mark IV helmet ends up looking better if you want a classic Halo CE look.

Believe it or not, the Decimator armor is supposed to be a GEN 2 variant of the Mark V B armor, (Noble 6’s default armor), but I didn’t actually notice until much later because they squished the helmet down just like with Mark V Alpha.

One thing I think would be cool is if they made some Mark VI variants from Halo 3 for Halo 3’s anniversary, like Halo 3’s recon and EOD armor.

How can you not have a knife on you when you go into battle. Helljumper is it I think. Classic never goes out of style.

Unpopular opinion: I like a decent amount of the armors. I mean, yeah, Seeker is -Yoink-. But Hellcat armor is one of the coolest ones we’ve had ever in Halo. I don’t think we need to get all of the old armors directly remade. I know some people liked CQB (which Dynast was in no way meant to be a remake of, only slightly reminiscent, and technically a “replacement for CQC and CQB systems”. If you ask me it looks more like Sangheili mandibles than anything else.), but it is unnecessary to have everything come from the past.

Also, holy balls that was one sentence. How did you even manage that?

-Yoink-

I would love to se an exact replica of the original recon armor that was introduced in halo 3. The recon that is in reach, h4, and h5 is hideous.

Also, What ever happened to the katana sword that you unlocked through achievement progress in H3? I think little things like that are what 343 can do to make future halo’s great.

Nothing about the game or any of the armor in it looks like it’ll hold up at all. It’s almost entirely hated already.

Guide to Classic Armor: Black under suit, immense armor details like Reach had, and none of this weird round style.

Honestly, they should remake the Mark V. They can use they’re design too, that’s the thing.

My proof that they can fix their design lies in this artists’ remake of it:

His attempt was by far the best the armor has looked and is the most accurate representation of that that you can get, close to the classic Halo CE: Mark V that is.
They could easily use this artists design of their armor and make it look so much greater. The Mark V looks like someone was dropped on their head, since it’s so short and stubby. And I don’t think the new variant of it their adding would make too much sense, the patterns don’t really fit a “classic armor.”

As for the under suits…Under suit should have a tertiary color option, as well as the bicep and thigh stripes on the armors. That would help make the armors stand out far more.

For real. This looks amazing and reminds me of Halo: Reach.

The thing I like about it is that it still uses the under suit from the current game, but it fixes every single bit of the armor that Airborne Studios ruined when they made it for Halo 5. It looks just like it did in the first Halo and even in all the concept arts. The person was even able to make the helmet proportions to perfect shape. It even looks blocky in the best way like it did back then. This is what I’ve always wanted it to look like in the future games since its return. 343 Industries should really take some notes on armor remastering.

Yea I agree too…when I got the mark V helm it didn’t look like anything compared to the one in halo 3

The version of Recon in Reach was the exact same as the one in Halo 3. The one in 4 and 5, however, is quite hideous, I agree.

The Recon in Halo 3 was identical to the helmet in Halo: Reach, aside from the attachments that you can add. I like the Halo 4 Recon helmet, the armor though, is disappointing. I liked the dynamic armor customization that Halo 4 had though, you could make the classic Recon armor in it, aside from the chest plate which had to be Mark VI. In general, the extreme customization options made things much much better.
