Why Can Teammates Betray in Vehicles

Its not that it’s a constant problem, but there are people in BTB that like to betray on purpose using the vehicles to splatter. It seems to be the only way to kill someone with friendly fire turned off, and they’re exploiting it, since you can’t fight back in any capacity.

I spent a game earlier trying to kill enemy players while our wasp and a warthog were constantly shooting at me and trying to splatter me, just because they felt like trolling.

What exactly is there to do about this? I highly doubt reporting would work, and it doesn’t give you the option to boot apparently. Normally I would just betray them back, but that’s evidently not an option because I don’t have the same powers they do for whatever reason.

Any advice?

I think it has to do with problems it would create if they didn’t do that.

If it would just bounce a teammate away, it would create problems where people are just going to bounce there teammate to the enemy flag or the power seeds in BTB, wich would ruin the gameplay. On top of that you could still betray teammates when you would bounce them off the map (think about Deadlock in BTB or Behemoth in 4v4), only to have that teammate then having a ‘destruction’ and could even be thrown out of the match if that happens to often and would give the victim a ban for ‘destructing’ to much (creating huge griefer problems when a teammates kept deliberately doing that).

And if the vehicles would just go through teammates, you could have teammates literaly hiding ‘in’ scorpions or wraith and not being able to get shot. That would also be a problem.

Just use the in-game report… oh that’s right there is none, looks like you’ll just be getting trolled over and over muahahahaha!!!

Removing the ability to splatter teammates would be my answer. If there’s no friendly fire for anything else, there’s no reason to keep it for vehicles.

But no, betraying them back isn’t going to help anything. The only thing it’s doing is making the game finish sooner, and get wins for the other team. With the way challenges work in this game, that wouldn’t entirely be against the rules of the game, even if it goes against the intended spirit of things.

Not sure about infinite but H5 used to be 2 or 3 betraying splatters used to give you the option to boot.

If it was a mistake then I’d let it go but if they did it deliberately once, I’d keep jumping in front of them until I got the option to boot them :joy:

What’s annoying (and I’ve seen this in infinite) is if you snipe someone off of a vehicle and the vehicle continues and splatters your teammate it counts as you splattering them and a betrayal because technically, something you fired was the last thing to touch anything/one on the vehicle, another genius idea.

I understand their dilemma regarding splatters though.

  • phasing through would create a problem where people could hide inside vehicles,
  • being pusharoundable (it’s definitely a word) would mean people firing their team all through the air (more than what’s possible now)
  • become a human bollard would make people troll, blocking vehicles

I’m not sure there’s a 100% fix answer

Edit sorry @Super87Ghost made this point already
