Why can Diamond players get matched with Gold players on their team?

So I just played a game of ranked and at the end I looked at the ranks of everyone in the game, I’m a Diamond 2 and I had Plat 1’s on my team and the enemy had a Diamond 6 player and a GOLD 2 on his team! How is that skill based matching if u can get way lower ranked people on ur team making the teams very uneven. Idk how that makes sense

Because matchmaking is not working properly. I get matched against unranked players even though I am at Diamond 5.

Maybe not broken. Maybe they put in enough skill before playing all ten matches to put them in diamond status before being actually ranked.

I mean, I could be wrong, been known to happen.
