Dear 343,
today I went to play a game. I queued up for dominion, a game type that doesn’t require even teams to be fair and playable, and found 8 other players. Seeing that we were an odd number(9) of people that found each other in about 10 seconds and nobody wanted to wait any longer it went on to start the game with the expected 5vs4 distribution. WRONG!
It started it 6vs3 where one quit instantly to make it 6vs2, guess it’s not fun playing when you can’t defend 3 zones at once, weird… It took 1minute and 7 seconds before the game ended. Luckily this is a scenario that never happens in Halo 4.
I don’t think a fix is required, it’s working as intended,
Being forced to start off fighting a full roster by myself or myself and only a couple players happens to me more often than I care for it to. This is one area where I think that Call of Duty performs better than Halo. All of the matches I have played in Call of duty have had an even or really close to even number of players on each team. Playing Slayer by yourself against 5 other people sucks, and so does playing Dominion 3vs6. If a large number of people back out of a lobby, the game should restart the lobby and search for more players to join the lobby rather than throw what’s left of the lobb into a match.

I ended up in a 4v1 CTF match once.
While I am ok with unbalanced teams during Slayer (I perform better on my own, ESPECIALLY in Swat, I usually hate it when I’m trying to get out of a bad situation and my teammate stands in the direction I’m trying to move so I can’t move), Objective modes are a big no-no for unbalanced teams. I did get a good amount of kills that game by running around with the sniper (and later the binary when it spawned), but they won because obviously I can’t cap on my own.
On Topic:
I hate those things too, but what happens more frecuently to me is that Im throwed inside games with the losing team with a score of almost 4 times my team score each time I join a playlist.
I so damn hate when those things happen to me… >______<
Anyone remember H2 at launch? It had some really weird rules.
For instance; if you are playing a team game and the game ends with even scores the win was given to red team and blue team took a loss.
Or; sometimes games would start with uneven teams intentionally. BTB on Coag or Waterworks with 6 vs 5 was just unbelievable. Instantly on the back foot.
Eventually these issues, which were painfully obvious, were fixed by Bungie.
I get the same vibe from H4 right now that I got from H2 back in the day. There are some maddeningly obvious problems like matches starting with massively lopsided teams, maybe they will get fixed… or not.
Had a 4 v 8 BTB the other day. After about two minutes we were way behind, and my three teammates quit. I’m thinking JIP is mostly fixed, b/c no new players were added to help me out.
Not all that much fun getting massacred by two mantises and two ghosts and 2 snipers, a rocket launcher, and an iCannon. Lol. On the other hand, every kill I got was a killjoy and a close call and a revenge so I was getting ordnance frequently - made it bearable. Still went like 22-36 and lost in a rout, though.
I LOVE this game, but it does astound me that the MM logic has difficulty dividing by 2…? Haha
The mear fact that a game will start with uneven teams ia problem I thought they resolved when they took it out of Halo 3. For those who dont remember Big Team in Halo 2 would match you up with uneven teams and for some reason they thought it was a good idea.
