Before you guys tear me to shreds, just read this post.
Armor Lock was a great idea, but was executed so badly that it became the hated AA it is today. And 343 destroyed the good idea furthermore. The idea was that it would be defense against grenade spammers, and sometimes campers. But mostly grenades. 343 angered me with the TU because grenades DEPLETE the armour lock bar. IMO Grenades shouldn’t do that. All the other nerfs I’m fine with, but not nades. Thank god it’s not in every playlist, but then again, on the other playlists there is the unnerfed a-hole lock.
I know it’s too late for this, but I just wanted to put this out there.
The problem with Armour Lock was the second someone was getting shot in the back by any thing, they would use AL and then their team mates could come and save them while they paused the game for themselves for six seconds.
If its true intention was to block grenades, which it wasn’t considering if a vehicle boosts into you, it blows up, then it was poorly executed.
The TU nerf made it good for its intention, to absorb a large amount of damage to save you for a small amount of time, not absorb anything coming towards you for six seconds.
Yeah, I really did say some non-sense in my post. What I meant was:
HURRR ARMUR LOCK EAT GRENADES NOM NOM NOM! 343 MAKE THAT AND DO IT OKE? NAO! HURR HURR
The only thing wrong w/ AL is that it’s in the game.
Going invincible for 7 seconds in a first person shooter is a terrible idea, even on paper. 343i fixed it to a degree, but it still has no place in a Halo game, IMO.
At least it protects you from vehicle on a collision course with you. LOL!
> At least it protects you from vehicle on a collision course with you. LOL!
Which ruined vehicular gameplay to a point, IMO. That particular feature was completely unnecessary.
In hindsight, I think Armour Lock would have worked better if it functioned similarly to Evade. For example a player could use Armour Lock two times for 1 second per charge, perhaps with a one second cool-down between uses. I would think this would be enough to survive grenades and vehicles, require good timing and not stall the game too much.
I am satisfied with the TU though, as it is possible to force an opponent out of it.
Of course, it’s a moot point now.
Don’t turn my thread into HUR DURR ARMER LOOK DUUMB!
I just wanted AL to eat grenades.
