ARMOR LOCK’S BAD
Tell me your thoughts on why it’s bad.
It’s bad because you can go back into it so quickly. Even if you only activate it for 1 second, it should have to recharge afterwards. I hate it when armor lock users just trigger pull constantly. I still love using it imo it takes skill to use it in infantry combat.
If you stand just shy of its overcharge range you can punish cowardly behaviour. The only thing it’s good for at that point is delaying death or waiting for teammates to bail them out. I like armor lock because it’s just a reason to target a specific player for an easy to exploit playstyle.
Not that I play Reach that much anymore.

“oh, you’re trying to kill me, let me use this in game ability to make that LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE, that’s fair, right?”
By the time I notice a sticky bomb or grenade or a rocket round, for me it’s usually too late. For things like that, I prefer Evade. The slight delay between pulling the bumper and armor locking is just enough time to get me killed. Evade on the other hand is usually instantaneous. It’s also more practical to use Evade. It is a huge speed boost when you use it. Also Armor lock should be nerfed, making someone impossible to kill is pretty OP.
“I know this game was meant to be fun, but what say you good sir. We pause the whole gunfight for a few seconds”
Honestly, I don’t think Armor Lock is all that bad. I would much rather choose Armor Lock over the Jet Pack. Yea, with the Jet Pack, it can let you get to higher elevations, but all it honestly does it just make you an easier target for someone with batter aim to just pick you off or snipe you out of the sky. I will say that the one thing that sucks with Armor Lock is when you are trying to get that achievement where you assassinate someone who exited Armor Lock, but when the person is in Armor Lock, they can rotate their camera to face you so the second they pop out of Armor Lock, they are instantly facing you and either beating you down or blasting you with a shotgun or something that can insta-kill you. Otherwise…all it really does is just delay their death because as long as they are in Armor Lock, their shields don’t recharcge. So you just hang back a little and once they pop, just finish them off.
Since we’re forced to use abilities, Sprint all the way. Jet pack users are easy targets, Armour lock noobs are annoying but not impossible to deal with though it definitely breaks the combat in Reach the most. Evasion is cool and Camo is useless.

The power of being impossible to see at long distances is very useful, not to mention it’s still not easy to notice the same player at short distances.
Reach’s a great game but forge Armor Lock. That’s my statement. It’s just a cheap escape goat. Like, there was one time I had a Sword, this guy activated AA right before I slashed him, got out sending the EMP and killed me with a punch. That is an extremely cheap tactic and I HATE IT SO -Yoink- MUCH. I would kill to get this thing out of the game.
If Reach’s added to MCC, Armor Lock should be very limited. VERY limited. In fact, it could just go away and everyone would be happy. Cheapest escape goat I’ve seen in a video game. I would just dedicate the rest of the comment into saying “Forge Armor Lock” to the limit, but I don’t want my post to be reported as spam.
The only thing I hate about armor lock is that when an enemy uses it all his teammates seem attracted to my position and kill me before the guy’s armor lock expires. So cheap…
I would say the banshee is far worse than armor lock. At least with armor lock, you can find a consistent way to beat it. If you play as elites against a banshee in invasion, unless you have a well coordinated team, the aircraft proves to be a lot more troublesome.

That’s pretty much the only ability I use in Reach anyway is Sprint.

I think the hologram might be glitched too, because it often comes up as a grey dot. When I test it out locally on split screen, the motion tracker reads it as yellow/red.

It comes up as a greyish dot on your radar if you use it, but to an enemy, it may show up as a red dot.

You know that for sure? I have seen enemy holograms as a grey dot on the tracker. Maybe because it got damaged?

It’s an easy way to tell if it’s a hologram or not. It helps balance out the ability, like how camo screws up people’s radar so they know you’re nearby. I always use hologram on maps that aren’t Sword Base, because I feel it’s the least cancerous ability and it feels good when your enemy falls for it, it goes to show how unaware your enemies can be.
I hate it because if your throwing grenades or pelting them with a assault rifle they just go into armor lock then jump, go into armor lock, and then kill you.

Easy to tell because the hologram shows up as a grey dot on the tracker or the physical form itself? Because if it is easy to tell physically and it shows up as a grey dot without any other advantages, this would easily make it the worst armor ability in the game. Why would something that works poorly need to be balanced out?

The dot on the motion tracker that would ordinarily be yellow or red is grey. The actual hologram is very convincing. The only clue you have that it’s a hologram is whether or not it’s just running in a straight line, or if its movement on your tracker shows up as a grey dot. You could also shoot it, but that gives the real enemy the distraction they were going for.
