It’s ridiculous that is not a one- hit kill. It is almost impossible to kill somebody with the ball or the flag if they’re not already wounded by a teammate. Can someone please explain why it’s not
There are explanations online from pro teams, 343 and others that helped on the game. Its obviously more in-depth, but the gist of it is that it balances the game out more than before.
I hear you but I still think it’s stupid and a bit unfair.
Balances the game out? The carrier has no weapon?
There is an actual response 343i gave about this. If you can find it then I’d strongly recommend reading it. I don’t know if it was in one of those developer posts that 404’d with the website update. If it is then you can throw the URL into the WaybackMachine website to read it.
The oddball being an instant kill made it a power weapon. That encouraged camping and quick, cheap shots. Now the carrier is inclined to drop the ball in order to fight back. The goal in nerfing the oddball was to force more variety in fights by taking away the dominant strategy. The melee of the oddball isn’t worthless; it’s fast, so you can always get two hits in quicker than the opponent.
EDIT: I posted the full statement I was thinking of down below. It’s reply number 34.
I hear you, but I don’t think I’ve ever been able to get two shots in with the flag or ball before they can get shots on me with a weapon. Meleeing somebody with the ball or flag knocks them backwards and you’re too slow to get another shot in on them unless they’re up against a wall.
But what you say does make sense.
absolute GENIUS! how come bungie never thought about this in the first 3 games? 343 really does know better right
343i didn’t want them to be, and that’s it…
You can try to influence them to change their minds. But ultimately the decision lies with 343i, and them being the creator of the game that means their say is all that matters. One of the perks of being the creator of something.
From what i understand the carrier is intended to have to rely on the team for offense makes sense i guess.
Ive deffinetly not felt the ball is thst hard to get kills with but its probably a subjective taste thing.
I know right? It’s almost like bungie had already tested that before, and while it does encourage the player to drop the ball more often, it also negates the whole reason the ball or flag carriers generally move slower in the 1st place. You move slower for a stronger melee, otherwise why move slower at all?
The goal of the game mode is to hold the ball the longest, so how does it make sense to “encourage” you to drop the ball? ![]()
I hate that it’s not a one hit kill. You are already vulnerable and now you are basically worthless as a carrier. I don’t even see how it balances the game. I would argue it’s more balanced being you can’t shoot while carrying .
when enemies are pushing your team you are supposed to drop the ball and help your team shoot them. Instead of losing a 3v4 and the other team getting the ball, you are able to fight a 4v4 and pick up the ball a few seconds later
pro-teams ruining the fun yet again
absolutely despise these dumb -Yoink!- pro dipshits…
Said it before and will say it again… They need a HCS playlist with all the “pro” settings and then regular ranked and social. What the pros like and want shouldn’t effect the entire population IMO.
Another thing they need to do is have a player still register as a carrier if they drop the flag/skull before dying.
I understand this but players can do that regardless if the ball/flag is one hit kill. In 1v1 situations a carrier is now at a huge disadvantage.
So they are padding out game time? Sounds pretty dumb to me
And bouncy halo 5 grenades will change that.
If people were just good with grenades and flushing the enemy they would probably be a lot different, as they’d get flushed out of a tight area, then need to drop it in an open one where its less effective.
I dont really know if its faster than melee, animation cancel melee.
