I got Forge Island as soon as it came out and have since made many maps on it (I am a forger) and am very happy with it, BUT recently since Team Slayer has included Majestic DLC I have seen quite a few posts complaining about Playlists that require DLC and now how they can’t play them.
I just don’t get how people haven’t already figured this out, Team Slayer and KOTH require Majestic and Champions Bundle DLC, but ALL the other playlists do not. If you are looking to play your favourite playlist (whether it be Snipers, ThrowDown, Flood etc.) and it says DLC required, don’t come to the forums to complain, just go download Forge Island. It’s as simple as that.

Really? How could people not know about Forge Island? It’s so simple yet I have seen quite a few posts just like this.

343 could probably do better advertising of the fact that there’s a free dlc forge map. I mean if you don’t go on the forums or anything and you didn’t see the golden star on the market place option when it released, you probably wouldn’t even know it existed.
I’m still insistent on the fact that they should of done an update to implement this map into every-bodies game copy… if you have the 8gb+ for the MP, its likely you have enough space for forge island.

So “Press A to continue” with the weekly messages that show up before you can enter the main menu, including the time Forge Island was released for free, isn’t passing the information on?
Yes a bit more in-game messaging like H2/H3’s MM-searching messages could help a little more but in today’s age when we know to check for DLC when buying a new game, AND when we have in-game messages that tell us before we can play the game that we have free maps, at some point blaming others becomes just lazy with a lack of observation.
(And let’s not forget the “You don’t have all the recommended maps.” message when starting any playlist offering DLC maps.)

Same here. I wanted to play customs on it, and had to wait till they finished downloading it.
Maybe in playlist info, it should say which DLC you need.

They should just force players into downloading it like how the Matchmaking updates are mandatory.
It’s a free map, so why not?

Some people are sometimes pretty stupid, they don’t look at anything and just start to bash 343 or someone else because they didn’t know there is free dlc that is required…

It is partially the players’ faults for not doing research before posting.
However, the game should tell you what DLC is required in order to play in a playlist, and it doesn’t–it just says that you don’t have the necessary DLC. And since DLC is almost never free, any reasonable person would assume (before doing research) that he now has to pay before playing in that playlist.
Though issues arise because of shortcomings on both ends, it is more 343i’s fault than the players’ because 343i should do a better job of communicating changes and requirements in-game.

Also if i do enter the marketplace menu when prompted about the DLC, is Forge World the first item that pops up in the menu?
