Why Arena fails unless more playlists are included

Here I go 15-3, having been 11-0 at one stage, carrying my team completely and going down 50-31.
As you can see all my teammates are horribly negative, and have let me down completely, especially as I was having to deal with all 4 by myself, with a lot of success. I was even going for the Perfection, but realised that we were in danger of being steaked, so it was never going to happen even if I didn’t die. Unfortunately, this is a very common occurence, and means that my true skill is not being shown as it really is. (In fact surely the fact that I can take on 4 players almost by myself means I should get put up even higher in true skill, not have it reduced!)

Now, how is it fair that my skill at Halo Reach ranked play is being held back by poor teammates? If there was a FFA playlist, then I wouldn’t need to be held back. I even got Gold last season in spite of my many poor teammates. How is this a true reflection of skill? It isn’t. We need more playlists so that skilled players are not held back like this! I have to go lone wolf most times in Arena, just to salvage wins.

Only with more playlists in Arena will I truly value its division placements, because if this is regularly holding me back, then I’m sure there are many more players in the same situation. And therefore, some players are higher than they should be as well.

I think there should be at least FFA, SWAT, Objective, BTB and Snipers included. Otherwise Arena rankings are useless. Its like saying that all people good at PE are good at Science. Are they in reality? Of course not. This is what Arena is currently asking you to believe. That if you are good at Arena now, then you are Onyx at all playlists. this is not true! Until then, I cannot see Onyx players as all that awesome, because they are only Onyx because the one playlist they are good at is catered for, but not the others

BTB ranked is tough to pull off. The more players involved in a game, the less impact one player typically has, making it much easier to get screwed by being matched up with bad teammates, unless BTB rank became performance-based, which won’t happen. If we did do ranked BTB, it’d have to be moved from social, since if there was both an arena BTB and a ‘competitive’ BTB, the latter would pummel the former every time in terms of population. And all DLC should be required.

Swat shouldn’t be ranked. Snipers, okay. But all DLC required, with the map pool cut down a bit.

Objective I agree with, although it should only be 2 flag, 1 flag, oddball (or king, but oddball’s better), and maybe bomb.

Arena FFA should be put back in, with a few changes: 1) Instead of an assist being worth the same as a kill, make it two or three assists before you get a point on the scoreboard. I’m sure they have the ability to do this. 2) Include powerups on the map. Arena FFA provided no real reason to go anywhere, OS and camo powerups are a good way to take care of that without muddying things up with power weapons. 3) Better maps that are specifically tailored to FFA.

My list would be slayer, doubles, FFA, snipers, and objective. Possibly MLG.

And Arena should not have radar. Under any circumstances. Radar is nothing but a crutch that slows down and restricts gameplay.

I agree with you OP however instead of making a new thread its better to just support this one that way it gets more publicity.
