Why aren’t Guardian and Salvation in social matchmaking yet?

Salvation is the beautifully made remake of Damnation FYI.

Both these maps look superior to the ones we got in the WU. While I prefer Ranked, and know the bar is different for maps qualifying for that playlist, imo there’s no reasons these gems shouldn’t be in QP, Slayer and Fiesta.

As an aside, ranked is really desperate for new maps. I would love for 343 and the Forge community to dive into Halo vault and recreate older maps. One such map that would be fun with the grapple hook is Solitary from Halo Reach. Love the aesthetic of this map and I have no problem with playing maps from older games.

343 sound keen to start the process of community forge maps moving into match making.

They even published a guide to what’s needed to bring a map up to scratch. It’s literally stickied to the top of the page!

The problem is that it’s a lot of work. Probably as much, if not more, than the general aesthetics of the map.

Quality control. Obvi. Though I too am eager to see some of these sick remakes and reimaginings enter rotation.

lol given 343’s precedent for releasing unfinished/buggy products that is ironic.

Would just be nice to hear from someone inside that these maps are being tested and will be added to the playlist soon, like next week soon

There are plenty of 343 interviews / quotes which show they are out there playing and enjoying the community maps.

But nothing is going to happen by next week.

Especially given we are waist deep in the Xmas / New Year period.

How bout, a “Best of forge playlist”? Give a warning, these maps are a work in progress, there will be problems. No quit bans in this list.

They already said they wanted to do that. But even then quality control is important, since out of bounds glitches, uneven weaponspawns, etc. can ruin someones gameplay. And in a normal playlist it will probably be played way more then just in the CGB.

And as 343 also said, if something has to be updated to a map before it can make it into such a playlist, the creator of that map has to fix that (since it’s his/her map), so that could also take some time, since those are not people who’s work it is to create halo maps, but they do it in their spare time. And perhaps some might first have to figure out how to.
