Why Are You Excited For Forge?

Clearing up some things:
. DRM means that your games require an internet connection to play
. Consoles aren’t supported forever
. Halo 5: Guardians requires an internet connection for its multiplayer
. Once the Xbox One is no longer supported, Halo 5: Guardians loses its multiplayer forever
. Forge maps go when Microsoft pulls the plug on Xbox One
. Some people like to replay games long after they’re relevant
. Losing hours of work is bad for these people

Why is everyone excited for forge in Halo 5: Guardians? With all the DRM, you will lose your hard work one day anyway. Why bother forging?

Its fun to be creative and to see that creativity and hard work translate into something you love, is very satisfying and fun.

But you won’t even be able to play on those maps one day. Why waste the time/effort? Once the Xbox One stops being supported, you lose Halo 5’s multiplayer.

Yes, one day. But when that day comes we will be on a different game and Halo 5 will probably be gathering its digital dust from not being touched in years.

Memories. I used to build awesome stuff with my legos when I was a kid even though i knew I’d take it apart one day. Still didn’t stop the fun and the memories of that awesome pyramid with the ufo inside.

Its fun and rewarding to create things that you and others enjoy, simple as that.

People are likely excited for Forge so that they will able to Forge things.

Just a guess.

Nothing lasts forever.

Being able to forge a good map and then actually have people play custom games with you on that map, is one of the best feeling in Halo. Let’s hope file sharing works as it is supposed to.

To be honest, i’m not too picky on forge. I used to love it because the social group of guys i played with always played Halo 3 customs and i miss those days like i miss party rings biscuits from home. but now we play more big team cooperative online rather than custom game or forge a creation. so forge to me now is an extra for when i get bored and the first wave of custom games get onto the rosters.

I used to love making forge maps and doing 4 player spit screen matches. But without split screen I almost don’t see the point in forge existing anymore.

Because it so much fun when you create your own base. And some of the community custom games are just so fun!

Believe it or not, not everyone completely abandons games after they reach a certain age.

Not true. Once the Xbox 360 is no longer supported, I can still forge/play on, say, Halo 3.

Why even buy Halo 5, or any game for that matter, with that attitude?

Why do anything in life? You are just going to die anyways. Seems like you are just wasting your time on whatever you are doing.

I’m not a huge Forger, but every time I’ve done any forging, I’ve found the act of creation itself rewarding. Sure, none of my maps made it to the Forge playlist, but I enjoyed making them, and my friends and I played some fun matches on them. Maybe you’re right, OP, and we can’t go back to the maps 10 years from now, but who cares? It was fun in its time, and that’s what matters.

Halo 5’s servers won’t shut down for a very, very, very long time, so there’s nothing to worry about.

Because some games don’t have always-online DRM and will be playable five years from now.
