Why is everyone talking about future map packs when we’re not even able to play the current ones we have?
Seriously, why have I paid for something which I’m not able to use? It’s ridiculous really.
Please make certain game types ‘DLC required’ the population isn’t big enough to add a load of different playlists.
Take a look at REACH compared to 2/3. With 2/3 you had DLC that was required for matchmaking, sure some people were butt hurt, but in the end it was a much more pleasant experience, especially for the people who have put more money into your brand! Then you had REACH, ah yes, the infamous REACH, the place where all this fudge-up began. It started punishing players who had bought the map packs and ultimately never ever got to use them. I must have played highlands about 5 times, seriously 343 you fudged up there.
But then it’s the same thing with Halo 4, 343 once again continues to show that it is incapable of listening to the fans and does “what it feels is right”.
MAKE PLAYLISTS DLC REQUIRED! You can have a couple like team slayer, grifball and small team objective as normal, a teaser to the people who haven’t been able to get the DLC yet. But other play lists like throwback, Big Team and Team objective should be DLC required.
Seriously, this is a MAJOR issue that isn’t addressed enough! You’ve given us some great maps, and yet we’re barely able to play them!

I agree. I feel like certain playlists should require DLC including SWAT, BTS, and IS. I chose those because they are usually the most populated. It should be like Halo 3 where most of the gametypes require new maps while the rest don’t. I haven’t played on two of the crimson maps since they were released in December. I barely see majestic now either.
Also, if 343i made required DLC playlists and players couldn’t search for their favorite game types, it would encourage them to buy the new maps. It’s a win win situation. Its good for us because we can actually play on the maps we pay for, and 343i wins because they get a larger profit. I don’t see what’s wrong with implementing this.
Well, you’d discriminate the people that can’t afford more maps, or who choose not to buy them. That said, I really doubt a lot of the small population that play Halo 4 don’t have the maps. Seeing as most people left playing are die hard halo fans, I’m sure they have already got the maps.
SIDE NOTE: If REACH became DLC required, I’d definitely go back to it. Only issue I had was the same one that Halo 4 is suffering from in terms of DLC.

I TOTALLY AGREE!! They have WAY too many playlists which scatters EVERYONE to where only a hundred or so are on each one… not to mention everyone getting screwed that paid for the DLC…methinks
Thanks for a relevant post with actual implications on the longevity of the game. I completely agree that we need to segregate DLC owners and non DLC owners, not only will this drive the sales up of DLC but it will also cater to die-hard fans who bought the map pass very early on or the “special edition”. I would love to see a Slayer and Objective DLC playlist, (also supporting the Crimson Map Pack Big Team game types). I really enjoyed all the map packs so far, and yes the populations do dwindle quickly, but that is because you have a playlist with only 3 options. If a full DLC playlist was implemented we would have a hopper of 9 maps, Split this again for objective and slayer and you have some real diverse DLC options for MM. I don’t know the numbers on individual DLC packs and the War Games Map Pass but I believe that a lot of the remaining player base is committed hard-core fans who love halo for halo and would have bought the special edition upon release/pre order. I believe a playlist like “Action Sack” could easily be replaced by a playlist like the ones I mentioned above, not that I don’t have fun in Action Sack, but for long term enjoyment I cannot see it staying in the hopper for the games life span. I hope we can keep this thread alive as I think that this is an important topic of debate in order to keep the game enjoyable for its life span, without this, not only are a lot of people going to shy away from buying DLC for other 343i titles because they don’t get to play it a month after its released but because the same non DLC “out of the box maps” have been stale for months.
Only map I don’t see often is Harvest and I love that map. Every Domion or SLayer match has a Crimson map to vote on but no one votes for them as often and I don’t really care I like the Majestic maps more.
