Why are we getting 2 of the same map twice?

In the sprint 343 talks about changing up the map truth slightly and adding a variation of the same map (regret) which they call a remix…basically like having blood gulch and coagulation in a game that will have about 12 maps on launch.

Then it’s revealed they have a map called eden which has the codename highrise…yes they designed a map around a call of duty map…then designed the map empire as a remix of eden.

stop with the lazy design, if we have around 12 maps on launch then it’s worthless if half the maps are just slight variations of an already existing map.

We don’t have any idea how many maps the game will have.

They could be using these remix to make quick maps so they have more maps cone launch. For example if all 7 beta arena maps have a remix version that’s 14 maps just for the arena gameplay.

So how about we wait on calling them lazy Debs till after we see how many maps we get at launch

Exactly. It’s better than having Snow Bound and Boundless, or Condemned and Uplink.

They havent explained why they are doing these remix maps.

Maybe they’re doing what racing games do when they include “mirror tracks” with these.

I wouldnt jump on the “Whine like a b!itch” train from BTS footage for a game releasing in a year.

If you had not been so ignorant to see that they’re not being lazy with this game in anyway (watch the sprint for proof)

This means with remix systems that effectively the game can release with more maps at launch.

The remixes aren’t even the same, they’re similar in a symmetrical sense to appeal to the arena portion.

Get over it, its happening and it looks good.

I think the remixes are a great idea.

me too

Oh my god, why are there so many dumb people on this forum?
I would say there would be 2/3 of the normal unique maps in Halo 5, plus a remix of all of those. And the Forge maps we get for Breakout. That would be around 20 well designed maps. This isn’t laziness. This is a fun choice for 343i to make competitive additions to competitive maps.
And Eden is not codenamed “Highrise” and is not based off of a fricken Call of Duty map. That wouldn’t work the slightest. Eden is a remix of Empire.

I think it is too early to be speaking about behind the scenes footage

From what I understand they’re using Remixes to launch with more maps, it’s not like they’re just remaking areas from the campaign (looks at Reach) or making 2 variants for small maps with one difference and renaming them (looks at H3). Regret looks WAY different than Truth and I’m sure Eden will look WAY different than Empire.

snowbound, condemned etc was a removal of placed items and didn’t take up extra development time.

exactly that’s the point, that’s where the opinion comes in, it depends on what you want, i can assure you remixing all the maps will only allow for another 1-2 maps they are not a slight change…it’ll all depend on how many maps are remixed and how many maps are in the line-up that’ll depend on whether their ideas are good or lacklustre…if they’re going to spend that much time on creating such a similar experience then why not make a new map?

development takes time, the remixes aren’t just an easy small addition they’re entirely new maps…they just happen to play very similar to an already existing map in the line-up. I very highly doubt we’ll get 20 maps (unless you count community forge creations which aren’t proper maps), if i’m stupid then you’re naive.

unfortunately it’s a halofollower video but it does show raw footage from the sprint

watch from 2:35 to 4:00

also empire is a remix of eden not the other way around, and in development the maps were given the codename high rise, just like truth and regret were given the codename midship. in order to develop these maps there needs to be a new schematic, new skybox, new modelling, new texturing, new lighting, new animation, new audio, gameplay considerations and testing and bug fixing…they are not an extra consideration it is just another map.

me to i think thats awesome. so when you think about it we could have 12 maps plus the remix version i dont think any one should complain about this

i like regret and truth, both look similar and fun, shouldnt be to hard to switch between

I like the concept of remixes, it allows for more maps at launch and different maps that are assured to work

Remixes are cool, especially since their work on these maps have proven to be awesome so far. Quality over quantity. And by reusing assets and design elements this could potentially allow them to make more maps as well.
