Why are people rejecting Halo going back to a formula like Halo 3 or 2 when it never got a chance to fail and is more popular than Halo is today? Maybe going back to something like that with out all this crazy movement would be pioneering in the right direction. Halo needs to take a stand as its own again. While yes the older Halo’s are not perfect they are more popular than Halo is today and nver go a chance to die out. While Halo 5 is a great game it still isn’t as popular. going back might be the right way to go instead of working on a new formula like Halo has been doing. I mean it cant hurt to try it right? all i want it the best for Halo and when i see how popular it use to be and how it has gone down it saddens me.
Also is there ANY way to see the population of Halo 5?

Going back to old formula would in my mind, be daft. What’s the point? I don’t want to play the same mechanics of 2 and 3 in a new game. I enjoy fast paced Halo 5 combat. I enjoy the Spartan abilities. Halo is not as popular because its up against more popular franchises these days - COD, Battlefield…
Halo 5 is a great game with great mechanics, but it lacks content. We do not need a repeat of H2 or H3
Because people that don’t know what makes a good Halo game who want to justify their purchase of Halo 5 will claim that those games are “stale” and that “you should just go play those if they were so good.”
We know that games like Battlefront are ahead of Halo 5 on the population list.
We know the population of those games through developer released numbers.
Therefore, we can deduce that Halo has a smaller population, and that population is somewhere under 120k.
> Going back to old formula would in my mind, be daft. What’s the point? I don’t want to play the same maec
Because all three original games were the exact same.
Most franchises stick to the same formula. Learn what a formula is.

to be fair it worked and was popular and you can’t prove it wouldn’t be popular now. Yes i cannot prove it would be but it was and never got a chance to die out so who is to say it wouldnt?
New gamers of the modern times would play it and would say it sucks, the gaming landscape has changed and as a result every game has had to evolve to some degree. The current trend is player ability’s, before it was movement and before then it was weapon variety.
The amount of old-school Halo veterans is lower than the new breed of potential Halo players, so it makes sense to adapt.

Most franchises stick to the same formula yes. I know what a formula is thank you. Assassin’s Creed sticks to the same formula and is the same regurgitated stuff every year. Halo 5 is great. I updated my last post as I submitted early by accident. We do not need H2 or H3 with a new coat of graphics - MCC already did that. H5 lacks content and modes but the core gameplay is excellent
I agree with you, but at the sametime, I feel 343 is now heading in the right direction much more so then with halo 4, so please dont get me wrong halo, halo 2, halo 3 have given me somenof the times in gaming over the years and I do now and again jump back into them. What 343 needs to do with h5 is tweak the maps, give them a more halo 2 halo 3 feel as far as weapon placement and map control goes. Halo 5 is a refreshing game, and it does feel way more like the old, but maps are key now, and maps like lockout, damnation, gaurdian to name a few, havent been seen since. So 343 work on maps we dont want flat maps with little verticality. Thats my opinion. Just to add early 2000s gamers are now in their 30s and less of us have time to play, 343 is appealing to the younger generation the call of duty gen.

Why let it die out? Why do what other franchises do and repackage the same game every year with new maps and nothing else? Halo cannot repeat the same things over and over - it’s not what Halo is about.

Remember when Halo was largely the same for the first 3 titles, and it only grew in popularity from game to game? And then Reach came out, which introduced change? And then Halo was a little less popular?
And now here we are.

Reach was hugely popular online and still is. I do not feel change is what has contributed to the decline of Halo’s popularity. The competition is stiffer now and Halo had less competition against it back in the days of H2 and H3. How is copy catting H2 and H3 going to result in a resurgence of population? 343 would get slammed by critics for not focusing on any innovation.

No. No there were not the exact same. Far from. There was much strife about it too. Do you remember www.halo2sucks.com? How about when people left Halo 3 because of equipment? These were real things that really happened. Claiming they were exactly the same is a huge misstatement,a generalization, and patently false on all accounts. There was a huge amount of fighting about it on the forums too with each release. The truth is, population has been decreasing since H2. Fact. And? No one can say why, and no one knows why. Any reason that anyone can claim, is just a theory. Period.
If 343 would of made the same game people would of complained “343 is not even creative they just made the same game with better graphics”
H5 is the most balanced multiplayer game out of all of them.
The older games are playable on the xbox one and are online multiplayer on the MCC collection, why would you want the same thing again?

Reach definitely was popular, but it did start a downward trend.
And the only reason Halo can’t compete with competition now is because it is becoming a clone of other series who have already mastered their own formula. Halo is now becoming the off-brand cereal that no one wants to buy.
Halo is now the Tootie Frooties to COD’s Fruit Loops.
Which is funny because 343 says the reason Sprint was added was to compete with the other “modern” shooters. Lmfao.
Halo could only compete before because Halo was Cocoa Pebbles, and COD was Fruit Loops. They were different.

If they came back they still wouldn’t be happy. Even if 343 moved back to classic gameplay stuff like map design, story, game modes and armour design would still displeases them. 343 are used to making there style of Halo not Bungies, if 343 tried to recreate a classic Halo feel they wouldn’t be able to live up to it and it would most certainly not resemble a classic Halo experience.
Its also worth keeping in mind that those who left are not the most loyal of fans (I don’t mean to be insulting but if someone truly cared about a franchise they wouldn’t give up on it until the very end), yes they love the game and its worlds but abandoning the franchise due to it changing isn’t going to bring the old Halo back. I was appalled by Halo4s and the MCCs matchmaking but instead of leaving I joined the feedback programme to try and make Halo play better (obviously what I think Halo should play like is different to everyone else’s point of view but the point is still universal to everyone) if 343 listen is a completely different argument all together.
In the end I wouldn’t mind if Halo went back to the Halo 2/3 feel but I wouldn’t want a complete clone which is what most of the vets want it to be, I also would like all the old fans to come back but its likely to never happen due to a variety of different factors. I do admit that some of those who left probably do have legit concerns that to them are unredeemable, but in the end each persons take on any aspect of Halo is just individual opinion, no fan has the correct answer.
I hope that didn’t come of as a small rant.
> Claiming they were exactly the same is a huge misstatement,a generalization, and patently false on all accounts.

Agreed.
