Is it me or does 343 hate vehciles or do they just love foot combat too much?
Warzone is supposed to be big battle on steriods but just seems like slayer 2.0. Vehicles are hardly used unless they are transport or heavy ones. In big team warthogs are used once or twice and it becomes BR v BR. Vehicles just ignored
Like holy moly i played the sandtrap remake. It was beautiful. But in halo3 where youd see some vehicles i saw people just camp and BR. No epic hog battles or such.
So why. Why are tanks turned into sitting boarding bait. Why are banshees destroyed by normal gunfire. Why are ghosts blown up by almost nothing. Why are warthog gunners killed so easily!?
We have enough damn foot combat in 90% of halo5. Can big team go back to being the unique playlist where you wortwortworthog entire teams to death. Where tanks make people piss themselves. Can warzone feel like a warzone not just a bigger version of slayer.
Give vehicles some upgrades. Give them a reason to be used and not just the maybe chance of getting some kills. A warthog should be fun to use, not a trap
Because 343i doesn’t know to balance the vehicular warfare portion of H5. In my opinion, H5 has the worst vehicle combat mechanics in the entire franchise.
This, and the lack of quality arena maps, are my biggest complaint about H5. I mean, is a clip of a BR really going to destroy my ghost? Really?
H3 was my favorite Halo game of all time, and the main reason was the BTB mode with the vehicles that were in it. Getting a ghost and splattering people was the best thing ever. Now I get in a ghost and I get killed from a -Yoinking!- magnum half a map away. Its the most ridiculous thing. They seriously need to adjust the vehicles in the next update and buff them. Its long overdue.
Aren’t the BTB maps 1:1 in scale to the original maps? If they are, then sprint explains why. Since it is faster and easier to get across the map using sprint than searching for a Warthog, vehicles are not used much. Couple that with the increases in damage to several weapons, notably, the Sniper Rifle, and vehicles are not going to get used much.
But I’m a nostalgic edgelord, so of course, this is my opinion.
Yeah I understand what you mean, I barely use vehicles because it’s too easy to just drop a grenade into a tank/wraith. At least make to where you have to break the top off first before you drop a grenade.
I agree with this so much, I miss having epic vehicle battles and spending a good 15 minutes of a BTB game driving around in the same vehicle splattering people or gunning them down on a warthog because the vehicles could only be destroyed with the strongest weapons or when you made a silly mistake like flipping or being boarded. It’s not like the vehicles would be overpowered in Halo 5 anyway since the thrust makes it easy to evade splatters (when the physics actually allow for a splatter kill) and in both BTB and Warzone there is plenty of access to powerful weapons and grenades. Now if you jump in a vehicle you get a good 3 or 4 kills before you’re destroyed by a BR. It’s one of the things that I really miss about the older Halo games that the last couple just haven’t provided, yet could provide so easily. Vehicle play is one of the things that I loved so much about Halo and also one of the things that made Halo stand out so much. Too few PvP games have vehicle access now and that is saddening.
I’m all for team - oriented vehicle usage. However from what I’ve played (particularly in Warzone), the the vehicles don’t seem awfully durable. The way I’d help to address the issue goes like this:
Heavy vehicles including the Scorpion and Wraith shouldn’t be affected by regular small arms fire unless it’s an overcharged Plasma Pistol. Explosive ordnance (like Rocket Launchers, Fuel Rod Cannons and grenades) and other vehicles should be the primary method to neutralise these targets, with anti - materiel rifles such as the Sniper Rifle used to kill the driver directly if exposed. Then as a secondary method you’d of course try to board. The only thing that needs to be fixed with boarding is that the driver should be able to remove boarders by shooting an object close enough to catch said person in the blast radius in order to kill them, saving their vehicle if they did it fast enough.
-For air vehicles and the Warthog, the same principle applies. The only addition for the appropriate weapons is the load out weapons with the Kinetic Bolt ammo. These rounds make weapons do more damage to vehicles. As I can hear people already say “well that isn’t going to help with the people sitting around with Battle Rifles”, that’s right. However I’d say that these weapons’ damage output to vehicles should be nerfed to an extent that encourages ordnance to be used and/or implementing damage drop off at range to dispromote picking the vehicle off from the over side of the map.
-The lighter vehicles such as the Ghost and Mongoose should be prone to the Kinetic Bolt ammo and all forms of ordnance. As for standard weapons, the Kinetic Bolt idea used in the air vehicles/Warthog applies again in the sense that the regular bullets should be nerfed to promote the use of Kinetic Bolts or ordnance.
If you’re wondering why I didn’t include the Mantis, it’s because I haven’t really used it myself so I can’t really say whether I like it or not yet. EDIT - the vehicles mentioned here are the base vehicles - none of their upgraded variants of whatever
my personal problem is splattering + hijacking. If I boost into my enemy I would just take their shields out. However if an enemy ghost just bump into me going 1mph ill just die instant. Also it seems after I try splattering the enemy with their shields gone they can hijack me a mile away but i gotta be up close and give them a kiss on the cheek to hijack. Also due note if you try to jump on a wraith to hijack, it won’t work and you will die. Just my rant ;x
It’s not so much the vehicle as it is the turrets. Turrets are all but useless in this game. Not sure if its the damage per round or poor accuracy. But in prior games if you had a turret you could own people. That is most definitely not the case in this game. Spawn with a turret in Warzone and see how well it works out for you.

i can agree to that, i think it is linked to your game conection.
anyway. Every vehilce in h5 has the same flaw. They are either ego ones like banshee and tanks or are just transport. Transport has become irrelvant because of sprint and the new moement. Then people will only use the heavy weapons for them self.
The Hog is the only possible choice where you drive and someone has to fire. A team play vehicle. Which is not the case anymore. People can spawn whatever they want or cant like in most big team battle. The new btb maps like eagle scqure are a perfect example. These maps make it eaisy for long distance kills, No need or space do drive a hog propably.
That’s the term I’ve used since the new vehicle health system premiered in Halo:Reach.
In Halo 2 and 3, the vehicles’ health was tied to your health. As vehicles took more damage, it absorbed less and less damage and your shields took more damage per hit, meaning a damaged Warthog was a stick away from a double kill, but couldn’t be nuked by a few shots at long range with a rifle. It took real anti-vehicle fire to stonewall vehicles, but teamshooting would work as well if you stayed focused on the target and didn’t let it get away.
IMO, the old system was way better. In newer Halo titles, Warthogs, Ghosts, and Banshees all get shredded very quickly by a few mags of pretty much anything you have. In Warzone, with everybody spawning with hitscan rifles by default, and a plethora of power weapons with all the REQs, most vehicles don’t survive all that long.
I miss the days of running support in a Ghost on Halo 3, but these days, the moment people realize you’re a threat, they spam shots cross map and chip your health away until this -Yoink–all you can do. Its not like its hard to do, hitscan has no time-to-target, so hitting something the size of a hog with a BR is cake.
You have to for hit and run attacks with standard vehicles these days. The higher REQ ones like the ONI or Ultra varients are tough. Disappointing you can’t go toe to toe with a Spartan in even basic Ghosts!

I agree, it seems vehicles are blown to bits by normal BR or AR gunfire.
