Almost every vehicles feels so fragile in this game; not to mention how hard it is to visibily see how much damage the thing has taken. In past game it was light smoke, then heavy smoke, then on fire, then the thing blows up. It was super clear the state of the vehicle. Now it’s like, perfectly fine, perfectly fine, surprise it’s doomed! KABOOM!
Also the chopper doesn’t kill people or vehicles by ramming them.
EDIT: I agree with what a lot of people are saying, that it’s likely more about the maps and weapons than the vehicles themselves. I think the vehicles should be made harder to destroy in turn, particularly the banshee, cause right now even if you’re careful and don’t rush in, most vehicles still get shredded by just a few people shooting ARs.

It’s apparent you don’t fully understand the vehicles then.
The Vehicle Damage system is more detailed than before. And even has an audio and visual warning when the vehicle is critically damaged.
The chopper DOES kill people by ramming them. Every vehicle does. Vehicle to Vehicle however is not functioning.
Some weapons can take out vehicles in 1 hit. Skewer Can potentially if hit in the right place. And rockets definitely.
Tanks have hatches that can be popped open leaving you vulnerable to being 1 shot like in previous games.
Vehicles are op what game are you playing?
A. I understand the vehicle parts damage system perfectly well, thank you; evidently, you didn’t understand the question or you don’t understand the overarching damage system. I like that they have individual parts damage, but the overarching damage, which means the vehicle is getting closer to being destroyed, is not well-indicated the way it used to be. It used to show phases of overall damage: smoke, thick smoke, flaming, then boom. Now, it only shows destroyed parts, which don’t necessarily indicate the overall health of the vehicle. True, it does start glowing red briefly when it gets in the doomed state, but (1) that glow highlight is very similar to the red color I use for the enemy UI so that isn’t very clear, (2) it doesn’t glow red for all that long, and (3) the audio cue doesn’t work for me, I have hearing problems and can’t afford a fancy headset.
B. The chopper used to have especially powerful splatter capability, even without a lot of force. Now it works just like every other vehicles, that was my point.
C. I don’t mind that certain weapons deal a lot of vehicle damage, that’s always been the case, but now it’s far more dramatic than in older games. The Sniper can kill the Banshee in one clip; the Skewer can one-shot almost any vehicle, and even without hitting a weak point will two-shot them. There were always vehicle killing weapons, but they are far more potent in this game than they used to be.
Also, weapons that aren’t vehicle killers (ARs, BRs, Commandos, etc.) can kill vehicles very quickly, as comapred to older games where they did almost nothing. In halo 3 I could drive around in a Warthog and absorb AR fire for half a game. In this game, I’m lucky to survive a lap or two around a map, even with just ARs and BRs shooting me. That makes the vehicles feel much more fragile.

They die way faster in this than they used to; they’re also so easy to board now cause of the grapple. In this game every vehicle I see is just an opportunity for easy kills; in older games they were threatening targets.
Warthog is very fragile in this game. I always enjoyed driving my friends around but now its just asking to die.

Vehicles remain very fearsome on the battlefield for me. I’ve dominated with the Wasp and Ghost and a bit of conservative use with the Warthogs has led me to giving my gunners some good sprees. The only vehicles that I think could do with some buffs are the Banshee and Wraith.
I think that map designs - at least in BTB - may contribute to the perceived fragility of vehicles as Fragmentation and Deadlock don’t really give as much open ground as a lot of the maps in previous games used to and you can feel it the most with the Brute Chopper and the Scorpion Tank in my opinion. The Warthog being a bit more bouncy and more prone to flipping over can be another factor as well. So far the vehicles I’ve seen die quickly are the drivers that like to just take off full speed at the beginning of the match and die instantly when they 're funneled/flipping into the mass of enemies on the other side while the real threats are those who don’t play as recklessly and patrol around the maps, supporting the team and pushing when they see openings.

The vehicles are markedly weaker.
I hate vehicles, I like that there are ways to kill them. I don’t want a game where the guy in the warthog is unkillable and gets a perfection and 15 overkills, that’s terrible game design
its just the warthog, chopper, banshee. Warthog chaingun is strong, but man it is aggravating to drive. Same deal with the chopper the boost is completely uncontrollable and usually flips you over, that is if you somehow don’t manage to flip it on something else stupid.
And the banshee is straight garbage in every way, besides splattering.
Part of it as well I think is the amount of power weapons is comparable to team heavies on MCC, just without the vehicles. You can’t hope to circle the map in a warthog more than twice without at least a heatwave completely demolishing you.

Imagine having a perfect blueprint in the mcc, and ruining it for the sake of “change.”
Imagine…
The rocket hog is the only vehicle I dislike so far. The rockets should be changed to the way they fired in previous games; clusters all at once.
And the Chopper needs its vehicle-crushing boost ability back as well.

Yeah I agree, if you’re careful with them the vehicles can still be pretty good. Maybe it is more the map design than anything else, but when I think about driving a warthog around on default sandbox in Halo 3 (which was super open so you were always getting shot) I don’t remember ever worrying about AR fire. The vehicle felt almost immune to it; it wasn’t until someone used grenades, rockets, even gravity hammer. Those would kill the vehicles, but AR fire would take half the game to destroy it. So, maybe it’s not the vehicles being less fragile but the simple weapons dealing more damage to them, but whatever the case, even in 4v4 I feel like my vehicles gets trashed very quickly. I do think you’re right that some vehicles are better than others; the banshee if the most fragile of all, but I think the vehicles in general used to be more sturdy against just taking shots.
Yeah that’s true; might be more about the maps and weapons than the vehicles themselves.
There are just so many ways to counteract vehicles in this game, they feel like a death trap.
The ghost, however, seems to be pretty effective, which I don’t mind.

They feel like they are made of paper
Yeah I do like the ghost, it feels about as effective as it should be. I really hope they don’t weaken it now.

Because they get shredded by AR’s and basically any non-power weapon.
Um when it takes 2 sniper shots to set a chopper to its deaths state, that is an issue. Also I think op was talking about the Choppers ability to splatter vehicles like it could in Halo 3 (something it can no longer do).
