So I was playing one of my favorite modes from reach…duck hunt.
For funzies I modded the map and added a gauss hog next to the only spawning point I left there and played a match and realized I hit at least 30% more balls than I usually get. Thinking it was a fluke I tried again, then again with a DMR then again with a sniper rifle then once more with the gauss hog and the results remained stable with a ~30% increase in balls hit while using the hog (even tho the gauss hog required to aim slightly high and to the left).
So my question is…why are turrets more accurate than guns? Will they be more accurate in Halo 4 too? Could our weapons be that accurate too pretty please?
It’s the Gauss Hog, also know as the most powerful vehicle ever. It is so broken in Reach it’s not even funny. Infinite ammo, fast ROF, Sniper’s accuracy, Rocket’s damage, and can shoot through Forge geometry. It’s a monster.
Its a mounted magnetic accelerator cannon. It fires the round much faster than conventional ballistic weaponry and with a rifled barrel it would of course add spin to the round and at those speeds it would be highly accurate for most environmental factors would be ignored by the sheer velocity.

My brain just passed out trying to read that sentence…I dropped out of physics.

I never took physics. I can’t tell you the math behind it, but I understand how it works. I like guns and I understand how they work well enough. I couldn’t put one together but I get what does what. Magnetic Accelerator tech is in development today its just that right now you need a massive amount of power to use one to accelerate something. In Halo MACs accelerate rounds to 1/4 light speed. Thats really fast. And would keep weaker gravity fields like 1 g from causing substantial drop to the round.
> Ok first off by nodded I meant modified in forge.

In game the Gauss will it the same spot unless you move it every time you fire. The projectile also moves very fast. As fast as a sniper round at least. It also Has a larger point of impact I believe.
