Why are there so many AFKers/Betrayers in this?

Each time i get into MCC, in almost every game, I encounter people not playing game or just trying to betray teammates. Any idea as to why that is?

I was just playing a 4v4 CTF and we had an afk teammate so me and my friends left and we got temp banned for leaving a game because our team mate isn’t playing.

Because getting a win achives nothing no xp system so they betray and afk players are because of auto queue

Were they not playing the whole game? I’ve noticed my teammates complain a lot about AFK players, but then I see the same player moving around just fine. This usually happens in the beginning of the game, I often go take a bathroom or snack break between games because searching takes so long. When a game is found, I may not be back yet. I let my party know, but anyone else on the team would have no idea. I also try to be more attentive when it’s a smaller game since one AFK player can really swing the balance in 4v4. I also feel like it happens a lot more in older Halos simply because the average age of those searching those games is higher. We have kids making a mess, wives who are asking us questions… I don’t like AFK people either and I think it’s rude to go AFK for more than a few seconds on anything other than 8v8.

Betraying I’ll never understand. I hate people that do that, even in retaliation to someone doing it to them. They know what happened, but to everyone else it just looks like two idiots shooting each other for no reason. Usually, I think it’s a dispute over a rare weapon. The blood Gulch sniper rifle spawns every THREE minutes, so there are often multiple people trying to get it. I’ve been betrayed plenty of times for it despite usually being one of the better snipers on the team. I also tend to notice lots of times it’s a matter of mistaken identity. One player is protecting another, but the second one doesn’t see the original threat and thinks the bullets came from their teammate, which starts a cycle of betrayals. Halo CE also has a glitch which often looks like a betrayal, if you throw a grenade on the same frame that you die, you throw it when you respawn, often right next to your teammates. Some people also play mostly newer Halos and forget how the CE vehicles work and think people are running over them on purpose. I’m the flag runner on our team so I usually end up with 1 or 2 betrayals per game just because I’m being chased with the flag and a teammate’s in my way. Most people don’t mind getting killed by the flag holder, just I’ve been attacked in the past for it too.

I always just shrug my shoulders and tell myself the same thing: “It’s just a game, and they’re probably just children.” Children referring to their emotional maturity, not necessarily their age. I’ve gotten mad enough before to kill someone who betrayed me, but not often.
