Why are there no brutes in Halo 4?

Why did 343 take out the brutes?

The brutes were the best enemies! They looked cool, they had the coolest weapons, and they were ferocious brutal super strong space apes! Plus, I feel the brutes should have a role in Halo 4, there are a number of possibilities as to why they could be present at the requiem. Like the elites and grunts we have already seen, they could be pirate, rogue brutes. Or perhaps some brutes are still loyal to the religion, and found a way to get to the Requiem to find forerunner artifacts and maybe even get revenge on the Chief. Or perhaps they are there only to continue fighting the elites. So the brutes in Halo 4 could be pirates, zealots or just hungry for blood.

Why did you take out the brutes 343?

Because the Brutes and Elites are at war with each other. When the Elites split from the Covenant, the various sub-servant species (Grunts, jackals, Hunters) were split in terms of loyalty. Some stayed with the Covenant, others joined the Separatists (this wasn’t seen in Halo 3 for the sake of simplicity, but this is what happened).

For a short while, some Brutes stayed loyal to the Elites, but in the end, the two species went to war with each other. This is why Brutes will never be seen working with Elites in the future.

The brutes don’t have to be loyal to the elites to be present in Halo 4. They could easily be at the requiem for the sole purpose of killing the Estes there, or finding forerunner artifacts as they could still be loyal to the religion.

We don’t know if there are no Jiralhalnea.

I think 343 is trying to stay away from having too much Covenant in Halo 4, which to me is a good thing. I personally disagree with having the Covenant show up so early in the game (the first level), but I understand why it was done.

I really hope that by the halfway point, at the latest, the Covenant take a complete backseat to the new enemies.

I thought it was confirmed?

There will inevitably be missions with no covenant. If we are following the same pattern as CE and H2 the first few missions will have a covenant presence, then midway through the game, you will be completely immersed in fighting another enemy and there will be no covenant, then at the end they will make a return.

Well I haven’t heard it.

I think someone on the Flood said it. Oh well, I’ll try and find out for sure

Brutes are ugly

> Brutes are ugly

So are Halo 4 grunts :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t elites and brutes hate each other, Covenant or not, they’ve always hated each other.
EDIT: right?

Yes, but that doesn’t mean the brutes can’t be in Halo 4

Eh, sorry to day it OP but to me Brutes were either mundane damage sponges or dime-a-dozen replacements for Elites. The only ones that were enjoyable to fight were Chieftains.

Yeah I think gameplay wise they should be harder than Halo 3 but easier than Halo 2

And have more intelligence than a cockroach.

brutes are stupid but they’re good … I hope to fight them in Spartan-ops

Agreed

They’d be overthrown during the 5 year time period. And besides 343i wouldn’t give us the whole thing. I mean Prometheans are enough right there, then they add elites and grunts. Lord!

That’s a shame. But perhaps there could be a small faction who survived
