Why are there a lot of AFK players?

No, it’s no d/c. They just stay there the whole time AFK.
343 needs to copy everything R6 has done stop quitters, afk and everything else.

Challenges. “Complete X amount of Y game type”. Why play when you can get awarded for just participating? Sarcasm, of course, but that’s the harsh truth of it.

Just an interesting note, something that made me go AFK…I was playing in a squad with one other friend, my game locked up but my friend who was still in the game said i was still there just afk. So it was odd how on my end the game fully locked up but on their end i just seemed like an AFK player.

With the state of the game now that’s entirely plausible.

R6 Siege has good systems to punish AFK players, including surrendering. Wish 343 opied everything R6.

Thank you for the context. Maybe it can be that.

Everything EXCEPT Alpha Packs.

There are WAY too many duplicates in that system.

You know what’s funny?
No one complains about it, you get renowned. Players are good with it. But Halo players would cry all day about it.

I complain about it plenty.

The fact that for EIGHT duplicates in a row I got the Calico Jack headgear for Capitao is just WRONG and leaves me feeling cheated. Because in order for me to get an Alpha Pack without spending renown I must -

  • Win the match, followed by
  • A spinning wheel that spins wildly and at different speeds regardless of how big your “percent of reward” is, and then THAT raffle is followed by
  • The hidden RNG that determines what you got out of a MASSIVE pool of LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF ITEMS.

The fact that I have maybe 35% of all cosmetics unlocked and a good solid 40% of the alpha packs I unlock are duplicates is just WRONG. And what makes it somewhat worse is that they don’t charge us money for Alpha Packs (thank the devs for having some descentsy). Unlike CoD packs that you have to buy with CoD points, you get Alpha Packs essentially at no real money cost unless you buy Booster Packs to increase your renown income.

As much as I hate Halo 5, their REQ Pack System was amazing. I am level 60-something and I have all the unlocks in the game that you can get (except Achilles, Olive helmet, Hunter Pre-order paintjob, the remaining emblems you can get by leveling up, and some of the pro-league stuff)

If Halo Infinite copied REQ packs and Rainbow Six Siege’s shop, ban system, and such; THEN I would call that a good improvement.

Dunno but it does my head in. To my mind if your AFK say 30 seconds you should be booted and if you do it consistently you should start getting short temp bans. That way you don’t punish people if something bad happens irl and they have to run of to deal with it etc., but you do keep things nice for everyone else (game needs more of that) and also deal with the deliberate AFK people who don’t deserve a spot.
