if this is a team game then why are games so unfair that they even have a unbalanced win percentage for certain games? 4 onyx vs 2 onyx and 2 diamonds is not fair meaning it was a game meant for me to derank and not a real ranked game based on match making skills. So how does 343 actually choose who ranks up?
The game sees a group of players/team and decides that finding them a suitable game will take too long as there aren’t enough players in their skill bracket actively searching. At some point the system determines they could be waiting an excessive time for a game (let’s say it’s set to 8 minutes). Instead of making them wait it pairs them in a suitable game.
This may mean they have an 80% chance of beating you. Yes you will lose rank if you lose, but any rank losses will be marginal and if you somehow pull off a win you’d get a huge chunk of rank so it is low risk, high reward for you when you’re the 20% chance to win. It can be frustrating especially if it happens multiple game sin a session but the higher the population of players the less frequently it should occur for individuals.
You may lose more rank than expected of your current rank is higher than your hidden rank. If that happens you gain less rank for any wins and lose more rank for any losses as the system aims to balance out your visible and hidden ranks.
so your saying the population in ranked is too low even though there are more onyxes than any other rank? thats laughable
There are 3 ranked playlists, and matches are compiled based on a number of factors, with skill and connection being the key ones. So if you take into account people’s regions, playlist splits and skill levels at all times of the day then yes sometimes these things can occur due to a lower population ticking all those boxes at once. Especially if you are at the higher or lower end of the spectrum.
Onyx is what, 5% of all players? We already have a much more limited pool to choose from before considering other factors.
