So this is how the pattern goes for halo games made throughout halo history.
Halo ce (original)
halo 2 (Unique halo, everybody loved it)
Halo 3 (First attempt to recognize halo ce) This is where bungie decided after one simple game, they want to bring back the feel of an older halo.
Halo 3 odst ( attempt to bring back non dual weilding, also health system, halo one pistol).
Halo Reach (Even bungie said they were inspired by halo ce to create reach)
Halo wars ( Pretty much did a better job bringing the stuff back like AR and pistols and such but still inspired by halo ce ).

but halo ce was cool though i liked halo 2 better but reach has more creative gametypes. hopefully it doest feel like halo 3 more like halo 2 and reach combined. Thats my opinion. No halo game can be like halo 2, not because it was awsomely designed but it was all its GLITCHES that made this game so unique and fun.

That might be how YOU feel it is.
But I can tell you that I did NOT love the mechanics in Halo 2 or 3.
I do love the mechanics in every other Halo though, especially Reach.

Halo CE, the original. Ironic considering the sources it payed homage to. An original mash up of familiarity. Wow the physics alone.
Halo 2, unique indeed. I’m a nobody not an everybody.
Halo 3, a nicely upgraded Halo2. Fixed a lot of my problems with Halo2. A lot, not all.
Halo 3 ODST, a nicely integrated CE-like gameplay with Halo3-like mechanics.
Halo Reach, everything seen so far, shaken not stirred. CE inspired gameplay (6-shot pistol, not 3-shot) with new to the series shooting mechanics but still CE inspired physics.
Halo Wars, nice interactive story (awesome cutscenes… as questionable as a 240lb man tackling a 700lb plus Elite or a unshielded vessel getting more than dangerously close to an unstable artificial star, without blast doors down to boot. Gameplay… Predetermined bases aren’t my thing.

Now as far as I feel, Halo2 and 3 are similar gameplay. ODST and Reach are similar gameplay. But both pairs don’t really match-up with each other.
So I have 2 games not like CE and 2 games like CE and 1 game like none of them. I don’t see the trend of ALL but I do know why people keep asking for CE recreated exactly.
It’s very difficult to create new synapses and brain pathways once you’ve “super-piped” similar but different synapses and brain pathways.

To be fair, there are times that they can and should be accepted. It is fair play if it is a room of consenting players. But as far as intent of design, a 3-shot pistol and firing 2 bursts nearly at once was never the plan.

Halo 2 custom games are 100 times better than any other halo custom games. Simply because you could have a Glitches game variant, and you could mess around and get out of the map or super jump higher and higher. And these glitches is what made halo 2 custom games great whether you like it or not. BUT in matchmaking yes it ruins the game but no one got out of a map during matchmaking because there is no point. Some however did super jump. Most died attempting to do it but when they would get up there they could be a pain in the -Yoink- or you could team br them. The number 1 thing that was bad in halo 2 matchmaking was when someone would standby or mod to win. Though mods where fun in halo 2 custom games. I once played in coagulation that was moded to be bikini bottom from sponge bob, it was prettyt sweet.

You can super jump and get out of maps in Halo 3 if you try hard enough.
