Why did anyone think these gametypes should be in matchmaking for Halo 5? They’re slow, restrictive, and require 0 strategy. Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t all three of those traits the exact opposite of what every other gametype is?
Not to mention they’re both broken and play nothing like they’re supposed to.

Yeah seriously. I heard recently that Prop Hunt is something that was popularized in another game, but it can’t have been this boring in that one. Literally the only thing to do is spam grenades from a distance and spam Blaze when in the fenced area and you want to spice things up a little.
Skeeball is so inconsistent. In a real arcade, it takes skill and, once you learn where to throw the ball, you can consistently land high scores. In Halo, I throw the ball, score big, throw it in the same spot, and watch it bounce around for a minute.

Imagine that the most casual playlist in the game not offering gamemodes that require skill. It’s not supposed to be super competitive it’s just a collection of popular custom games. I do agree that we need a refresh pretty desperately, but it’s definitely not because they require too little skill.

It’s not even that they don’t require skill. Hell, one could make the argument that Super Fiesta does not require a lot of skill considering you can get REQ’d by an Answer the entire game because all you spawned with is the currently-worthless H5BR.
The point is Prop Hunt and Skeeball are both objectively bad because of their design, not necessarily because of their concepts if that makes sense. I was pretty excited the first time I played Skeeball, but that soon wore off because I was confined to a tiny box and had to deal with balls that flew about without any consistency, all the while standing there like an idiot waiting for the dang thing to land in a hole.
There should be a higher level of quality for matchmade games, the other stuff can remain in customs where it belongs. I’ve seen some pretty cool and solid games in customs (Vehicle Fiesta and Ro Sham Bo Hallway CTF to name two) and I feel bad for the creators who make good stuff and try to get their work put into matchmaking only to see crap like this make it.
I don’t mind gametypes that require minimal skill, but they need to be fun to play. Both of those don’t really meet that requirement for me.
Mfw we have action sack but no social slayer.

Seriously, I’m not gonna stop complaining about it until we get social slayer back. It’s not acceptable.

Does Quick Play not cut it? Asking because I’ve only played it fewer than 5 times so I can’t say if it’s good enough.
i personally don’t like prop hunt. it’s honestly better to just hide. i dunno, i guess they’re just trying to hop on the prop hunt bandwagon

No, not at all. It’s got a small map selection because ???. It gets boring incredibly quickly.

Ah okay, yeah that’s not cool. See that’s the thing, there’s a lot to love about Halo 5. But then there are a few things that are so incredibly infuriating, the topics in this thread and the stupid “fixes” to the H5BR being two. And while Microsoft can and should be the one blamed for a lot of stuff, I don’t see how this is on anyone but 343i.

Because they are fun? Pretty sure that is paramount.

I don’t think I’ve played a game of either where at least 3 or 4 players haven’t left or don’t simply screw around. To top it off, Skeeball gives you no stats at the end so you can’t even see how many points you scored. Like I said, they’re not bad in idea, just excution.
