Why are precursors the ancient evil?

A lot of people keep saying they think the precursors are the ancient evil. I never really did get the reason for people thinking this.

So, i ask: why would the precursors be the ancient evil?

Also, if this was brought up before then i missed it. And i think i would also want a link to it.

Because they seeded life in the galaxy, humans, Forerunners, Elites, ect, but would kill entire races if they failed their test to inherit their Mantle, which is essentially the role of guardians of the galaxy. Oh yeah, they also made the Flood.

Answer your question?

We dont know if they made Flood or not, especially with the Amazon description of the third book, Silentium. Seems to raise many more questions. Its possible though that they did.

Yes we do. The Amazon message mentions the Precursors made humans and Forerunners yet the roots of the Floods creation was carried out a long time ago. The two have a relationship. Take that with what we’ve been told through Cryptum and Primordium about them, there is no doubt.

It doesn’t really seem like ancient evil material though.

Wiping out your own creations because they didn’t follow your arbitrary standards isn’t evil and humans are next ISN’T evil?

C’mon.

I accidentally posted with my other live account. But we do not know, at this point it seems like that. But like you said, the roots were carried out a long time ago. I think it was ten million years or something. We know of nothing that far back except that the Flood were around.

There is much doubt. Primordium raised some possibilities, the precursors themselves could have actually been the flood. Another possibility is that the precursors simply weaponized the flood.

Millions of years ago the ancient Forerunners fought the Precursors.

We also have been told everything about the Precursors through the Timeless One. We know NOTHING for certain about this thing.

Its origins…a mystery. Some think it is a Precursor, others Gravemind, others some other race entirely.
We can take his word for everything and then say he was a Precursor since that is what he states. But in the end, Silentium will hopefully shed more light on this subject, because everything is not always as it seems.

Edit: Yes millions of years but how many?

I suppose so. But they did mention that the humans were made as an improvement from the forerunners in some way.

Humans weren’t mentioned as an improvement, just the next race to test in about 100,000 years. Gee…isn’t Halo: CE and beyond 100,000 years later?

Yeah give that a find. I think it was centuries, but if that’s the case…then Halo will be going on for a LONG time.

I think he was genuine about it being an error but through in a laugh. That’s Greg Bear for ya.

The forerunners never did get killed off after they were tested, in fact they drove the precursors out of the galaxy. So the cycle that the precursors created probably ended there.

Except until the Flood came back and took the Forerunners off the galactic stage.
