It’s because MCC is comprised of SEVEN different multiplayer experiences all of which have free cosmetics to unlock at the players leisure, and that all 7 of those multiplayer games are far more flushed out and enjoyable than Halo Infinite.
There’s nothing to do in Infinite. I already have 500+ matches since the betas. I’m bored. I always finish the weekly and event in a few hours of playing. MCC has Custom Games and more modes in general. I have no reason to play Infinite unless I want the weekly or event items. It’s busted, laggy, and lacking in content. It’s really easy to get sick of the same few maps and same few modes. At least if we had a progression system, I would have a reason to care, but for the last month and a half, all my XP did nothing since I’ve been done with the Battle Pass.
Halo 4 gave you the raider Distortion armor for completing the campaign on solo legendary.
Yep. I started up a new profile last night just to redo the Halo 5 grind lol
More game modes, the devs still working on MCC actually care about Halo. More content, Better weekly cosmetics for free. Modes that actually work and don’t crash your PC or freeze your xbox.
MCC doesn’t kick you and ban you. Even though the server is the one making you lose connection.
All around better than infinite.
Elites, actual female characters. Weapon Balance, more weapons.
Happens when a broken game keeps degrading. Month ago people complained that BTB was not working. It started affecting me two weeks ago and I can’t play it at all.
Cuz infinite is garbage.
Halo has a rich history/legacy of releasing with a multitude of game modes ranked and social, it has also treated it’s players to unlocks for free.
I completely understand that a free to play game has to have a revenue stream to be a viable business, but the pricing in the store does not offer value for money.
Also 343i have had six years to plan, build and execute a successful launch, with or without the pandemic this launch has not been as successful as it could have been. They were given an extra 13 months to prepare for launch and they released with Ranked, Quick Play and BTB. At least in MCC you get Ranked slayer, objective, FFA and game specific playlists, along side social slayer, social objective, BTB, fiesta and infection.
These are staple Halo playlists that should have been in from day one and when 343i come out and say they are testing game modes that are in every other Halo game I cringe, because that means they’re putting their own spin on a legacy game mode that the long time fans will complain about.
Infinite multiplayer feels un finished to me so I went back to mcc until it can sort itself out
Because in it’s current state, Infinite needs a lot of work progression wise and playlist wise. Cheaters exist (they are supposed to be combatted) which 343 said they made a system to prevent that (obviously not working)
Plus MCCs launch on the PC wasn’t rushed (like the original launch) and 343 actually worked on instead of having it outsourced.
Infinite was rushed out in the way that another delay could have made it launch with everything. But I honestly think Microsoft being needy with wanting Infinite Limited Edition consoles to sell pressured 343 to rush it.
I’m about to go back to TMCC because I’m not having fun playing it, losing a lot of matches because of bad teammates, lack of content & progression & lack of replay ability in the Campaign
We are a Halo family, Dad, Mum and 3 daughters. I am very new, but Hubby has been playing Halo with the girls for 20 years. I have one daughter still at home and all three of us have been doing the MCC challenges, every week. My Reach and Halo 3 armour look awesome ( no costs ). My Hubby has unlocked everything in Halo 5 and my daughter is very close, I have just started. There is armour, helmets, weapons, vehicles, skins etc. etc. in MCC and Halo 5, none of which cost anything. Sure, you can buy REQ packs in Halo 5, but we haven’t bought one. Hubby unlocked the whole lot via REQ point wins in game play. His take is - We bought the disc, pay a monthly fee to Microsoft, that’s enough. I agree. AS FOR INFINITE - For us, we are Rural NSW Australia, I’m not sure if this is the problem, but I believe it is, we are having massive DESYNC issues and time-outs with Infinite. Now that DESYNC has been explained to me, that is exactly what is happening in nearly every game we play on Infinite. I even heard my Hubby swearing at it a couple of days ago, I haven’t heard that since he tried Halo 2 LASO years ago ( never tried since by the way ) Infinite has a store that is, quite frankly, an insult. We are getting time-outs, DESYNC and at the moment, don’t even bother with BTB. I have only played a tiny bit of the campaign, so I can only go off what Hubby has said, which is this - It’s very repetitive, the open world area could be half the size, you just spend time going through open areas, to get from one point to the next and there is a massive amount of glitches.
To answer the question from the top of this thread, I think a lot of people are heading to the MCC because Infinite is, for us here anyway, a shambles.

I love the grafix and weapons in Halo Infinite. I just wish 343i setup The Custom Games the same way they did in Halo MCC. As it sits now IMHO The Custom Games Area Is Really Broken.
Example: Saving our settings and gametypes on ourlocal drives so we can make backups of our files. Can’t edit Custom Games types after you have saved you custom Gametype. Sent Video To Devs for proof! We need more maps and a Custom Game Browser.
Would have been nice to have forge … Oh Well sniff sniff!
Link to that server?
I mean Infinite is a fun game, but I feared the moment I went back to some MLG setting Halo 2 and yeah, nothing compares for me. No de-sync, interesting up close battles instead of trades (BxR, anti BxcB, etc.), shot reg that actually registers consistently, feels better to aim, map traversal backwards no clamber, etc. DOUBLES.
In no way am I dropping Infinite, but after a month straight of nothing but it, it’s now turning into a rotation game instead of the premiere game for me. Nothing wrong with that, but nothing some patches and actual content couldn’t fix.
BxB in the Infinite Betas was the only way to beat Sword and Hammer without one, felt good to BxB combo 3 people teaming up on you. Infinite needs to add BxB, Sword Flying, Reach Swordless Melee Sword blocking, Reach Sword Melee counter, Reach Sword damageless clashing, Reach Hammer side melee, Reach Hammer gravity physics, etc classics in Forge Customs. Idc if they want jank matchmaking, because I will completely abandon matchmaking when Forge comes. I just want Forge Customs to be the best Halo experience possible.
I really don’t think we can compare the Infinite BxB and H2’s, one works in the overall combat loop and the other was broken, albeit fun.
Well they can take out the bugged one and add in the H2 one, but still, we need better CQC options. Infinite CQC is garbage compared to 2, Reach, and 5. Infinite is going to have the worst Sword Tournaments and Infection without them. Worst Grifball too.
I was playing H2A earlier and the game disconnected/ended early. Caught a 5 minute ban.
Because its better than this.
Hint: It’s not a broken steamer anymore like Infinite is and Devs don’t seem to be in any rush to quell the player rage.
How long was Infinite delayed? Think about it. This is all we got… a steamer lacking content except for atrocious desync/shot reg, donkey audio, greedlorded MACRO transactions, braindead progression grind system, toddler designed chat coding, something that was supposed to resemble SBMM but flopped, ect ect ect…
What’s the dev response? What’s the plan?
