Why are past battle passes behind paywalls?

They did change it. Season 1 BP didn’t give you credits. Season 2 BP gives you back the credits you spent on it, making it essentially a free, never expiring battle pass.

Halo Infinite does a lot of things wrong, but the BP system is one thing they’re doing right.

Battlepasses are behind paywalls because they need to at least make some money on a free to play (multiplayer) game.
You can play every game mode in multiplayer without spending a dime. We still get some free passes with new events in the game that cost no money. You don’t need to buy stuff to play multiplayer, all the content is cosmetic only, it will not make a difference in gameplay when someone buys the whole store or doesn’t buy anything at all. People seem to forget that new maps and modes were previously being sold in mappacks, today that content is free. If you like battlepasses and you have the money, you can purchase them. If you think 10 bucks is too much, that’s okay. You can still enjoy the game.

I agree with your points here my king / queen… At first I was completely against theF2P multiplayer, but now I’m totally okay with it. It’s allowed friends who never played Halo, to at least try Halo multiplayer. And even got someone to purchase the MCC because of it.

The multiplayer can definitely be better, and this winter update definitely is a step in the right direction. I’m also okay with purchasing Battle Passes for $10 every 3-4 months or however long the new season will be. I disagree with the store, but that seems to be improving with earnable credits in the BP now as well.

I think we need to get a Reach-based progression system, as that will make the game worth playing even more as well including the extra stuff from the BP.

No, I thought you could keep working on that battle pass even if you didn’t purchase the premium version
