Why are no vehicles in ranked?

It’s in the title. It’s like half the game is missing from ranked.

Ranked rewards skill. Vehicles in ranked don’t reward skill.

Because vehicles cost $5.99USD in ranked… Because people believe vehicles need no skill to use even though in halo 3 it was so hard to splatter someone in a mongoose that they had a special medal for it… and even though the warthog handles like a stick of butter on a frying pan, at least as far as rolling over. you don’t get radar either , might as well make SWAT Ranked only since it’s only one step away from it.

That’s… a very dumb comment.

So the warthog doesn’t reward skill and the rocket launcher does? Hmmm…

I would say my comment is about as dumb as your reply is helpful to OP’s answer. Thanks for the input dummy.

Fighting for and controlling power weapons is the Halo formula. If a warthog is on the map it’s there to fight over. It may be crap if it’s not implemented well, but it’s no less skillful. It’s essentially equipment on the map to control in order to gain an advantage.

Power weapons have limited ammo. Power items have limited time use.

The Warthog does not have those limitations. If you win the first fight and get the Warthog, you win the game. There’s a reason why no one liked the Ranked Sandbox maps and Standoff in Halo 3, and a reason why MLG doesn’t use vehicles.

Vehicles are fine for Socials, but they have no place in a competitive setting.

I am the OP…

The reply is relevant because the vehicle is simply another power weapon to be controlled. Hence the reason the comment is dumb.

Just because it wasn’t used in the past by MLG doesn’t automatically qualify it as a design going forward.

It’s part of the game. In no universe is a warthog or mongoose more of a power weapon than rockets. There are dozens of counters to vehicles in this game, and removing them removes part of the sandbox.

See my above comment. Thank you for confirming you have no idea what you’re talking about. It would appear that you disagree with MLG and the vast majority of the competitive community and refuse to accept why.

The warthog only last as long as it’s health last and it’s tires can be shot off now… a good player may be able to keep it alive longer, but you also need 2 people to make it effective a warthog with just a gunner is just as exposed as a player on the ground and an even easier target since he can’t move… For those reasons i would say a warthog requires more skills than a sniper or a rocket launcher which with the right aim can kill a player in one shot as oppose to something like th BR which requires multiple shots to kill a player and can be used by a single person. And I didn’t even take into account hijacking.

I did and I replied to it. Directly.

Thanks for confirming you are relying on MLG decisions instead of forming a proper argument. The warthog has pretty low HP in this iteration and can be easily damaged, that is the exact same as a limited “time” use.

I’m wondering if you’ve ever even used the warthog in this game. It isn’t easy to go on some magical rampage with it like in H3 or H2.

question, just a question
would it be more fair if in ranked warthogs had limited ammo reserves? like 200 rounds of gun ammo or like 10 rockets?

Again, I explained why a Warthog isn’t really comparable to a power weapon. If you choose to ignore the presented explanations, that’s your prerogative.

You ask “Why are no vehicles in ranked?”, you get an answer, and you choose to ignore it.

I can see how this conversation is pointless, as you simply just don’t want to listen to the answer to your question. There is no point in arguing with someone who refuses to listen. Good luck on the field Spartan.

Give us some 6v6 or 8v8 squad battle and yea maybe we will get vehicles.

The only map that normally has vehicles thats in the ranked playlist is behemoth. People are mad enough that map is in ranked when its not in the official tournaments

Fair point actually. Those maps did suck if you lost out in the beginning. I guess if they had limited ammo it could work.

It’s tradition. Don’t mess with tradition.

I think a cooldown after a weapon reaches its limit might make sense for balancing.
While a vehicle’s users are waiting for its weapon to cool down, other players would have time to get them out of the vehicle without them doing much other than driving or getting out of the vehicle.

Sorry ,but, your asking the wrong person…
