Why are Kills Worth 10 Points?!

Honestly, why change the scoring system? I think a 1-point = 1-kill system is as basic as you can get. What could possibly be the reasoning behind the change?

If you 343-lovers want people to stop calling Halo 4 “Halo: CoD”, then you should tell 343 to stop changing things to make the game more similar to CoD.

I don’t care if there were games before CoD that had Sprint, odd scoring mechanisms, or loadouts. I care that CoD has become the leading game in the world because of these, and Halo is simply copying them.

There is absolutely no reason why a kill should be 10 points. Or 100 points. Or 50 points. They should be 1 point.

Yes, I’m nit-picking. But you still want to say that this is not a rip-off of CoD?

Other things that were changed pointlessly, off the top of my head, include:
Medals (ugly colors)
Announcer’s Calls (He skips over Double/Triple kill and only says Overkill)
Unlockables

Halo Reach kills were worth around 10 credits. This is nothing new. Albeit it is more seeable.

You misunderstood, he doesn’t me points as in credits, he means actual in-game leaderboard score.

When you got one kill, it was one point in Halo 1, 2, 3 & Reach, in this game, it is +10 points for a kill and different types on kills for other bonuses to the score.

To be honest, I don’t mind it, the option has always been in Halo since Halo 3 to have a point system like this, and I preferred it, if I enter a battle with someone and we trade, I headshot, he melees, I deserve more points for using my gun at such range.

Halo Reach had a scoreboard which went from 1-25, -50, -100, etc. Each kill was worth one point on the scoreboard. What’s the logical reason why they changed it to 10?

Because it’s a diffident gametype called Infinity Slayer… Normal Slayer is still based on kills.

Yes, you are nit picking. They just added a 0. Really not a big deal.

How do you know this??

Because bigger numbers are better!!!

OMG you just got 10 points for a kill your so awesome 10 points is worth 10 TIMES 1 point, even though it isn’t because now it’s up to 500 instead of 50.

Its boils down to psychology that is only introduced into gaming when you have AAA development. Sickening that humanity is so easily manipulated.

yessir.

If you could link me, I’d appreciate it. I tried finding something, but I guess since it came out today, I couldn’t find it.

  1. Why do you care about the medals? All I need for that multikill rush is the announcer crying out “Overkill”. It’s really a small complaint

  2. The announcer does that in Halo Reach, too. If you get an overkill, it simply says overkill, unless you were near missing the multikill due to time, in which case the announcer calls out “double kill” before “triple kill”, and so on.

  3. Well they’re in, so who cares? I hate it when people think Halo’s gameplay strictly applies to an arena concept. Imo, Halo’s gameplay centers around the shield-health system, is based heavily on movement (with light amounts of platforming), mid-long killtimes, and a moderately large skill gap. These can all be achieved WITH custom classes, if weapons are balanced well.

As for the scoring, I could care less. It’s not a big change, adding a “0” to the end of Halo’s past game scoring.

Or it could just be that it is either unique for the specific gametype or that it makes the scoring system easier to understand (maybe an assist is 2 or 5 ?).
Main thing…calm down, just because it’s adding new features and tweaking new ones doesn’t mean it’ll be bad, they’re just trying to freshen up the series to stop it becoming boring and stale.
If Halo 4 was a cardboard cut-out of reach then people would complain, and now when there is slight change (adding a 0) people go mad…I just don’t understand.

Walshy video. Can’t link the interview because it was a live stream.

Link’s broken, just FYI!

Back OT: Honestly, I like the new scoring system. It’s nice to finally get something extra for a thing like an assist or multikill, rather than just a medal.
