Why are Halo fans so anti-everything?

Now lets just take a look back to classic arguments

1: “Call of Halo lol”

2: “Halo is a shooter, only”

3: “Bring back BR”

4: “Lol fanboy likes halo”

Now, for 1. WHY?

Ok, we get it. Cod is cod, and halo is halo. But people are like “No, Halo cant be cod”, exchange cod with any other game ever, and this is the most annoying argument I have ever heard. I really dont get it. Even if the idea is something good like Sprint, or Kill cams, every one is against it the as if it was perks and killstreaks, 2 things that would never belong in an “Arena Shooter”. But stuff like sprint and kill cams could work, and they wouldnt destroy halo. I think sprint was a great addition to reach, and I hardley even like reach. The only real reason I can see for these arguments is that people are against change. It would be a slight evoluton, but NO! NO! I DONT WANT GAME! NO!

Now 2. Again, why?

I enjoy the books, and story. But people seem to forget that halo has a story, and only want straight forward shooting action. Now, this is Ok with me. FPS is my favourite Genre, but I also really enjoy Kotor, and SoSE, alot! I wouldnt mind seeing halo games like these. Why wouldnt I? Ok, maybe the game sucks, but demos exist for a reason, and hey, maybe someone will like it, just not me. But with even the slight idea of an Open World, Red Dead style halo, people dont even want to give it a chance. Why?

3? WHY!?

Ok, again. I understand the value of familiarity in a weapon. But if said weapon is the ONLY weapon being used in every situation, then maybe it should be removed, or altered. For the sake of the game. I would rather a balanced game that one with ONE weapon, wouldnt you? Apparently not

now 4 is kinda offshooting

But when I see someone post about something they hate, why is it always “Lol, you fanboys would like it”
And the other side, when someone posts somthing they hate, its always "Lol, you’re a troll’
Again, the only real reason I can see why people do this, is because “I dont want change, and everything is good” or “I dont like this, it should go back to the way it was before”

Am I the only one to notice this?

Its the way humans are

When something’s as good and as awe-inspiring as Halo, it makes everything else seem inferior.

People like to complain. I am not dismissing the complaints mind you. I am just stating that on average you will see many more complaints than you will compliments. There is also much more to discuss when a topic is controversial . If something is universally loved what is there to discuss? I will take Constructive complaints any day because it is “Better to be reviled than ignored”.

everyone thinks you know “this is the best thing for halo”, but there will be people who think otherwise and think oh no this is the “best thing for halo right now”, all they want is a better game but not everyones opinions are the same

The Halo community is notorious for complaining. Halo has attracted a wide variety of people, who have many preferences. There are also a lot of immature people on Xbox Live and the internet, so a mix of the 2 is sure to draw many immature people to the fan base.

From my experience when people argue about Halo, there seems to be (at the risk of sounding bias) that the community is divided often between more intellectual and reasonable fans against less mature and unreasonable members.

I kind of feel sorry that 343 has to filter out reasonable advice and requests out of an ocean of silly complaints, arguments lacking logic, and minority opinions that are supported by the more vocal.

Gross generalisations are always bound to be completely accurate.

Some people post those types of things, but they’re generally not the sort of person you want to associate with.

A good portion of people on here do seem to have an aversion to change.

Typical Halo community. There’s not a lot of anyone on the Halo forums who can accept that other people might just have different opinions from theirs. Not that EVERY Halo fan is like that, though. There’s just a lot of it in the forums. But with that said, isn’t it like that with every other forum? Go to the Gears of War or Call of Duty forums, dare to bring up Halo and I can guarantee you that your post will be shot down in seconds.

> A good portion of people on here do seem to have an aversion to everything.

Let me fix that for you.

Let me just point a few things out, in regards to your statement:

Halo 1 was dominated by a precision weapon.

Halo 2 was dominated by a precision weapon.

Halo 3 was dominated by a PoS precision weapon.

Halo Reach was dominated by a spam weapon.

See the trend?

Did you expect everyone to run around with AR’s or something?

this topic is anti-everything

The same can be said for any game on any service. Kids and man-children aren’t exclusive to Halo, Bungie, 343, shooters, or sci-fi yet their effect is strongly felt here because whining isn’t arbitrary. It’s a directed response at unfavorable cirucmstances, and while hardly ever well articulated it always represents some internal conflict or another which is yearning for relief. So something about Halo must be creating that tension and producing this self-evident crap, and while one may argue that it may be the product of it’s competitive and impulsive nature (lack of actualization despite expectations and all that) I’d attribute the gameplay criticisms most evident here to issues with the original design of the game (which while successful isn’t flawless, even by relative standards.)

None of these validates as an argument. People who say something like this with no real argument behind it are just trolling. You can still say them if you have a valid reason behind it. Those people do not represent the people who have valid reasons to complain.

I have valid reasons why sprint and kill cams wouldn’t work in Halo, I can tell you why so many people would like the BR back, but I am not anti-everything. I appreciate the unique gameplay of Halo and want it to be as good and long lasting as possible. If there wasn’t criticism at all, Halo would get ruined.

I’ve seen some completely irrational suggestions, usually copying another game. While I always feel like just replying “Halo is no CoD!”, I can’t just fall to their level. I always come up with a good argument. The problem with all these suggestions is that they are usually ripoffs from other games or just plain bad. I’d have nothing against it if someone came up with a valid suggestion.

That said, I personally don’t understand the 2. and 4., these don’t have anything to do with anything. I see no reason why there couldn’t be a spin-off from another genre, as long as the main trilogy stays as original. The 4. is just plain stupid, people who say something like that should be completely ignored.

What comes to 1. and 3., they validate as long as you have an argument behind them. Being careful doesn’t mean being anti-everything. Suggestions come and go, some of them are more valid than the others.
