I have always wondered why a novelty weapon that was not balanced for Halo 5’s sandbox is present on several ranked maps.
It behaves differently from the regular BR, it’s not just a re-skin. The fire rate is different, it has zero recoil, and the aim magnetism is stronger. In fact, it’s kind of OP.
I know it’s way too late for 343 to bother making any changes (although I was complaing about this years ago too…) but they should either replace it with regular BRs in ranked or give it the same characteristics as the regular BR in ranked. Although I’d prefer the former because Arena should be a more pure experience and all the throwback/novelty guns should stay in Warzone and Customs. The clashing art style is jarring.
It’d be nice if the Halo 2 BR was unlocked by completing something Halo 2-related in MCC, not a lucky drop from REQ packs. A weapon that overpowered should be achieved by earning it, not by getting lucky from opening loot boxes.

Because it was balanced for halo 5’s sandbox. This one is different than the original H2 BR in that everything is cranked to 11 to make it a killing machine. It’s purposely designed to be a mini power weapon.

This. The BR is not anymore powerful than the Storm Rifle or the Brute Plasma. It is designed to be more “overpowered” than the starting weapons you spawn with and the starter weapons spread out across the map. It’s suppose to give you that slight advantage.
