I don’t understand how you can hail mary a grenade and have it bounce throughout a room on the other side of the map before exploding in what feels like a blast radius the size of a nuke.
Grenade spam is abysmal, and coupled with the Sidekick, it’s all everyone seems to do, or a BR with a grenade.
Also, bring back the grenade indicator. holding the Oddball and having my surroundings sound like I’m being bombed by WW2 planes isn’t fun, it’s frustrating.
EDIT: I know grenades bounce twice before exploding, but they bounce way too far, too high, whatever, reduce the bounce…
Grenade play is what makes halo. Indicators have never been a thing in the best playing entries.
My advice would be to work on your positioning and how you engage in fights or when to not chase a kill. It’s a combat dance that is different than other shooters. The closest equivalent to your arguement would be the people complaining about the lack of ammo in doom eternal.
I understand where you’re coming from, but from throwing a grenade at your own feet, the grenade still travels too far.
I often find myself trying to arc my grenades off walls or off the corners of doors to reduce the amount the damn thing bounces , which is a pain, because in previous instalments throwing a grenade at an enemy, normally resulted in it landing in their vicinity or just short of where they are, in this game, the grenade travels far behind them into the next room, and that’s probably just from the first bounce that landed in front of them.
Yeah I’m having a hard time with them. They were my bread and butter in Halo 3, found them a little less effective in H5 and I just can’t guage then at all in Infinite right now. It will come with time.
I agree with that point. I even have a clip of a match when I threw a frag grenade at an enemy and the damn thing bounced and slides right passed him. The friction is so weird.
I think that’s a part of why the game feels kind of Grenade heavy at times. Look at Halo 3. The grenade is thrown with a slightly steeper arc and once it hits the ground it only bounces a couple of feet, especially in dirt or sand. In this game you pitch it a bit straighter and it keeps WAY more momentum as it bounces forward. Combined with hitmarkers it makes grenades feel really easy to just spam away at pretty far distances.
I just want them to reduce the amount of bounce, make it like Halo 3, keep the arc, the distance, the throwing speed, the damage, but reduce the blast radius and increase their weight or something to stop them bouncing around like Golf ball in a Squash court.
Yeah the grenade spam in this game is really, really bad. I hope they reduce AoE, make it so you have only 1 frag, and add back in the warning indicators from Halo 4 so you can tell when a grenade is gonna actually damage you (especially since friendly grenades don’t anymore).
While I do find the throwing arc and their bounciness a bit off I can still toss them around a corner and I feel like the sticky’s arc may be a littl off as well ,but I haven’t have problems avoiding enemy ones i’ve only been stuck once and I was being stupid or badly positioned
Very true yeah. Unfortunately I highly doubt that’s going to change, so I think the best way to mitigate it instead is to reduce the availability, by giving players either only 1 or even no grenades on spawn. I’d love no grenades and social and 1 grenade in Ranked, but I’d be happy if they changed it at all.
