Why are friendly AI stupid?

I can understand the friendly AI aren’t supposed to be like the best. But I mean come on. I’m on a ledge next to you and you’re standing there like an idiot getting shot at.

Now im not the one to complain. I love this game so far. But I’m sick and tired of trying to kill every big guy on my own because the AI are stupid. This campaign has been re designed for 4 player engagement. The soldiers and even the elites have been redesigned damage wise for 4 player engagement.

Solo legendary is is hard asf because the game is set up like this.

Friendly AI are like dogs; loyal to a fault.

Yea i beat solo-legendary last night. They are pretty much useless. I think they need to improve on the command system used in campaign. for example:

-being able to highlight a particular spartan and have him pick up a weapon instead of giving a command and then one random does it…often times in legendary they run out of primary ammo so the go to their pistol. i have them take a weapon then i want another spartan who is rocking the pistol to take another weapon and the dirt bag who originally took the gun drops his and takes the new one while the others sit around looking at each other like “are you going to get that?!?”

-another idea with personal commands is having the ability to send one spartan here and another there, etc. as of now they all go to one area then once they get there one of them will leave to run all the way back to your area so its “balanced”. i put you there so it would be balanced!!

Cause it’s hard to code. But I agree they are completely person

Yes that mission is very special on legendary

I feel like I’m playing with a bunch of simple jacks! They are worse in this Halo than they have ever been in call of duty and that is saying a lot! I have been downed and asked for help with all 3 members with in 10 feet of me and they’re just like eh… Chief can die.

Hopefully they can patch them.

I’m not even going to try and solo that, I don’t think it would be worth the headache. Its not like there is some super special armor or reward for soloing the game on legendary anyways. Hell, I even struggled on a lot of parts on heroic solo.

I was stuck for ages on that section just playing heroic finally bet it… then the platform/bridge lowered and crushed me before it reached the checkpoint I was just stunned

BTW this is the first time they try something like that, it’s the only excuse they have. If they ever make an Halo with a fireteam, the AI must be much more inteligent than that.

Anyway, friendly AI is a very hard thing to code (and even more if they can get orders, even basics). But still it ruin the experience

It shouldn’t be too hard. Some games you have a fire team of closed to 10 guys and they still do work.

Republic Commando, released in 2005 is a squad based game done right. I was excited to see I had a team, just to find out they are completely and utterly useles. 343 could learn a thing or two from playing republic commando. However I do realise the limitations of an xbox controller, but could be like, if you held down the dpad button you get a menu with 4 choices or something?

Does anyone remember how good the squad was in Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter? That came out in 06 haha

The best is when they’re following you like a little puppy and push you off your sniping ledge. It almost feels like there was no effort at all put into friendly AI. How am I supposed to flank if even after giving an order they run over to me like idiots?

Well, you could have Up, Left, Right on the D-Pad to telll your foretell what to do individually. So say you are playing as Locke. Up would be Vale, Left would be Tanaka, and Right would be Bucke, with Down still able to show you the Objective. This way you can micro manage your fireteam individually, and not together.

So you could tell Tanaka to go take the high ground, Buck to focus fire on a Soldier, and then send Vale to pick up a power weapon. When the fight is over, you could then press and hold down on the D-Pad to have them regroup on your position. Then you have to fight a Knight. Instead of having to press Up, Left, Right just to have them all target one thing, you could just press and hold Up, Left, or Right to have them all follow the same order.

The AI in Campaign is leaps and bounds above the hysterical efforts of the marines in warzone.

Yeah, it’s the new and improved Spartan AI which will replace your co-op buddies. For sure.

Rly the only thing they’re good for is distractions. And…I got to mission 14…:’(
