Why are DLC maps so unpopular?

Whenever I play matchmaking in no DLC playlists I hardly ever get DLC. But whenever a voting option for DLC is there it is always voted down. Especially anniversary, and those maps are my favorite in the game. Why is DLC voted down so much when most of the default maps suck -yoink- compared to them?

I don’t get it either the default maps are a steaming pile of crap. I’d much rather play on Battle Canyon or Condemned than Sword Base or Countdown.

I’m not one to know but I guess some people just don’t have your taste in maps, even if the DLC is better.

Poor support from Bungie/343i is largely to blame.

The Noble playlist was infested with Breakneck Banshee whores who would pull out their USB-based DLC to force map load failures if they didn’t get Breakpoint.

You had this terrible situation where some/most of your team was gone after 2-3 map load failures only to get into a match on Breakpoint and be spawn raped because it was 1-2 people vs a full team.

A Banshee takes 144 Needler Rifle shots to take down from memory.

I think the damage had already been done by Reach’s crappy sandbox and the poor Noble DLC support so very few people were compelled to get subsequent DLC even more diehard Halo fans I know.

Then the Defiant playlist and had genius settings like ARS ON HIGHLANDS!

343i’s matchmaking team isn’t much better than Bungie’s matchmaking team IMO. Neither do enough testing or have enough common sense.

This will continue to baffle me for as long as Reach is around. Why people would rather play on Grey World or Camp Base instead of any of the awesome DLC maps is beyond me.

The way i see it is that a DLC playlist doesnt work. I often vote for it if I find it in Team slayer or whatever but 6v6 on highlands just doesnt work. The map is big enough for 10v10 or even 12v12.

Because they cost money…

Ridgeline is one of the best BTB maps I’ve ever played yet I have played so few times.

They are not required that’s why.

When you can play the game and enjoy it without the DLC, most will opt to avoid DLC and just stick with stock maps.

I don’t know why. I’ve had numerous times where say Tempest was a map to vote for yet all the morons vote for AR starts on Sword Base instead.

It’s quite shocking. Seems every time a dlc DOES show up people don’t vote for it but rather terrible maps and gametypes.

Does anyone else find that in the rare chance a Noble/Defiant map appears in the voting process in a playlist other than the DLC playlist it is almost always AR starts?

It’s really annoying when you get two popular gametypes on terrible maps and a less popular gametype like ARs on a DLC map and the DLC map gets voted down as a result.

Because people can’t be bothered to spent real money on a virtual experience.

Real or not, I don’t care, I play for fun, so I got all the DLC. And I don’t regret a thing. They don’t cost much. And the Anniversary pack is a bargain.

I just bought Noble and Defiant Maps for 50% (this week only) so I guess it’s time to see how infrequently these maps get chosen. Personally, I’m just happy to have a new FF map to play. I’m bored of the normal FF maps, and Installation 04 is too small.

AR starts on Highlands

Trolololol.

No one has the DLC because no core playlists require it.

No core playlists require it because no one has it.

I would be tempted to vote None of the above if a DLC map showed up. It could be possible another one might show up in the next round of voting, but they come up so rarely I usually jump at he first one to appear anyway.

The reason I usually vote for grey world is because they are usually better designed from a competitive stand point. Sword base and board walk get voted the most. Basically, any of the Bungie created maps are awful imo. Pinnacle and Uncaged are the WORST grey world maps made.

Halo: Reach is just the multiplayer Halo that is like CoD and is also for the poorer faction of the Halo community.

Agreed. The community maps are probably the best ones. They know what the community likes, because they ARE the community.

Plus, like you said, the community maps are built with competitive in mind. Most of the mapmakers who build them know what they’re doing. Any time a community map is added, I am actually quite excited. Super/Team Slayer’s new maps were not disappointing.

Grey World was probably the best map they ever created. Boardwalk, Camp Base and most of the other default maps were TERRIBLE. I like Powerhouse a bit, but the others can go to hell for eternity. Pinnacle is horrible, so is Uncaged, Asylum is okay, and please do not make me mention that spawn killing mess people call ‘Paradiso’.

I hope this kind of issue is never present in Halo 4 multi player.
