Why are all the youtubers complaining?

A bunch of youtubers dedicated to Halo, and even some that aren’t, are complaining about the reqs. I really don’t see what all the fuss is about, I mean it’s not like it’s impossible to get gold packs without paying or anything, and it’s all optional! Sure, I would like it if I could just use my req points to buy the thing that I want without having to spend insane amounts of time grinding, but then I can find other things that are actually better than the thing I was looking for! It’s not like a pay-to-win sort of thing, you can pay, but you don’t have to and you can go through the whole game and still have fun, without paying a single dollar or req point, to achieve.

The main issue is that REQ packs don’t benefit the game, they offer a means of chance that can be paid for. I can understand that REQ packs are tolerable and “not the worst out there” that’s not the point. As seen in both halo 5 and halo wars 2, there was a game mode made specifically for their respective microtransactions. (Warzone and Blitz respectively) Also yes! Future updates have made the game modes more functional … but that wasn’t there at launch and first impressions matter.

As for the whole YouTube scene -Yoinking!- about microtransactions. It’s nothing new and it gets them views. They aren’t in the wrong but you’ll see this -Yoinking!- in nearly every game since 2017. The only time where it mattered was Shadow of War (Where the developers removed the microtransactions post launch due to community outrage) and Star Wars Battlefront 2 (where it started the whole loot box investigation.)

Personally I’d rather not have REQs but as I said prior, they are tolerable and after level 130 it doesn’t really matter who paid for what REQs.

When are YouTubers NOT complaining?

There will always be complaints no matter what. The req system could have been good but it was just implemented so badly. One mistake was the way they crammed pretty much everything into it and left nothing to be earned via game play. But let’s not turn this into how the req system should have worked. But another reason most didn’t like it is they believe content suffered from it. Had they still sold map packs instead of the req system some seem to thing additional maps would have been way better and less likely to have just be forge maps. They would have had to put more time and effort into making them in order to sell them. Lastly and probably the biggest is it gives the impression of pay to win system as they feel individuals who buy a ton of req packs with money have a better chance at winning or are pretty much guaranteed a win. Which I don’t think it is because tactics and skill beats the biggest pile of reqs every time. The req system like any other system has it’s positives and negatives. If the req system continues in H6, which I kinda hope it doesn’t, I just hope they understand that not everything needs to be unlocked in it. Leave way more stuff to be earned.

Micro transactions my dude

I can only provide a short answer: it’s no we’re near the original formula. Most of these Youtubers who complain about halo 5 are used to the old formula: no Sprint no call of duty like aim no req packs. To them the way 343 is handling things is bad. I hope this answer gives you some insight.

Seems odd that they would be complaining about it now. This is an argument that seems better suited for two or three years ago.
