Why Am I So Bad?

I am constantly being destroyed around every corner. I thought perhaps it was due to the lack of aim assist, but after reviewing some clips it seems fine. It’s as if no matter what I do I am completely outgunned. I haven’t always been this terrible at Halo. I rarely ever found myself going negative in K/D after a game. Halo 5 feels so much different. And it’s no fun having my -Yoink- constantly handed to me. I am currently a Gold II in Slayer but I feel like I should be a Silver given the fact that I am usually the worst person on my team.

Has anyone else experienced such a drastic drop in their performance? Also, what can I do to survive this beta (strategies, tips, etc)?

Well, I can’t aim, so I get destroyed if I’m playing in a party full of semipros. If you’re searching with a party, I suggest you stop.

I’m playing with strangers so I’m at the mercy of the matchmaking system.

I’m in the exact same boat. I was good at every other Halo, but I’m -Yoink- awful at Halo 5…

I’m getting destroyed by everything and everyone in every match.

  • Aim assist is almost absent, which makes this way harder than the H4 guns I’m used to.- I live in H4 BTB, which is the surest way to soften up your competitive edge - I can’t kill anybody anymore in any game except with a DMR at 20 meters.- Xbox One controller may look like the 360 controller, but as soon as I started playing with it I realized that the resistance and sensitivity are just different enough to make it yet another obstacle I have to overcome. Slowly. And painfully.- Betas bring out people who love the game, love team slayer, and are usually good at the game. Making it a pit of hell for people who don’t have a double Y chromosome, or prescription for Adderall.- New motion mechanics (ground pound, clamber, etc.) are fine, but for the time being are just confusing me and making it harder to concentrate on targeting and shooting.Don’t panic. This will all be over in a few weeks. Then we can relax until launch, and that will give us a lot more to choose from in terms of personally optimal game types, length of time to adjust, and tools to help (like map walk-throughs in custom mode), and getting used to weapons in campaign before having to take on other players in the heat of competition.

Your connection?

I can do pretty good in Halo Ce, but I tend to get destroyed in this game.

Not sure if I just suck, I’m leaning towards blaming the game.

Game’s weird. There’s like zero aim assist, but heavy magnetism, especially on the BR.

And big hitboxes…

I never played much 4v4 Slayer in other Halo games, so I definitely took that into account. What’s really getting to me is that I can’t even pull off the simplest engagements. It could just be the collaboration of all of the things you’ve listed. I guess I won’t know for sure until the game comes out and I can* really sit down with it. For now I think my beta experience is over. It’s just no fun getting smeared all day.

I am a generally decent player, I had a very consistent positive KDR for each Halo game, but this game I am mediocre at, I can get the drop on people but one thruster from them and they already have two shots on me, this leads to a very frustrating shootout.

And I find it extremely hard to get perfect kills, 80% of the time I can easily land 3 shots on a person, and when it’s time for the final shot, nothing. It’s sooooo hard for me to land the final perfect shot and I don’t understand why. Put me in any other Halo game and I can finish my kills with 4-5 shots, but this game… Even if I get the first shot off it feels like it can be a 50-50 chance of winning if they don’t run away.

The best advice I can give you is to stick with your teammates, don’t stray too far from them, try and engage the enemy as a team, avoid 1v1’s, if you get shot from behind, thrust away and -Yoink-, never engage a 1v1 at a disadvantage.

I find the head hitbox rather small.

Sniper hitbox is Hunter size

It is weird because the aim assist is def not there. I would take aim assist over magnetism anytime. It’s really odd because the sniper seems to have the most aim assist out of all weapons.

For me it’s sheer panic trying to land those headshots because I know that there’s very little room for error in this game. The lack of aim assist coupled with the quick movement has made my overall accuracy less than 35%. Curse you Halo 4.

Im doing pretty well all things considered. Maybe you just need to get used to the fast paced movement.

Same for me. I rarely go negative, but I am always the worst on my team in Halo 5. I can’t aim worth crap, and sometimes I feel like my hits aren’t counting (especially in breakout).

Ah, I don’t use the sniper much, I let my friend use the sniper, I prefer using the light rifle. But using the BR to finish someone makes me feel like the head hitbox is just so small and hard to hit.

Yeah, I can get some panic as well, I can have them red-barred but I know I’m less than one second away from being 1-shot as well, I never had this sort of problem in last halos and it’s kind of annoying

I think this game would be way better without motion trackers

I think everyone would be too paranoid to have their back to a corridor.
