Why am I so bad?

I’m so bad at Halo. I don’t know why. I’m great at Star Wars Battlefront, Titanfall, and even Destiny. But Halo? I just suck at it. I’ve played it for such a long time but I’m still JUST TERRIBLE!!!

But don’t worry I’m not having a bad attitude about it, I’m just wondering. Anybody have any idea?

Note: A couple of things I notice is that I’m really good at games where you die really fast, so no shields and armor. Also if I don’t play for two weeks I get a little rusty…

Maybe this’ll help.

Twitch shooters that is all you’re good at.

Do you have any clips I can see and make a observation? If not maybe do the Octagon, if I remember correctly it’s when you and a friend have a BR and if you miss a shot you must let the person shields recharge and do it again and again until you stop missing and get the kill.

What sensitivity do you play on?

Twitch shooters favor higher/faster settings whereas I’ve found Halo requires a somewhat slower aiming sensitivity. If you use a high setting, perhaps try using a lower one.

I have a similar issue. I play on weekends for 6-ish hours total usually. I finally start getting good (using the magnum, using the sniper, etc.). Then the weekend ends. I don’t play all week. When I come back I’m garbage and all of the CSR I earned goes down the drain. Wot do I do?

Yea, I’m in Luke The Notable’s company.

I found that Proximitty has good tips once you start getting above a 1.1 ish K/D, such as making call outs and no-scoping.

Yeah I have high settings on.

I only record my best moments. XD

Why did I even ask for you for bad game clips. WHY!?!?!

I set my controller to where I’m comfortable with my precision weapons to get head shots. For some reason I just can not control the AR but I do better with the SMG. Go figure.

Maybe you can 1 v 1 me, slaughter me, and then make some observations!

Huh? Haha jk. Yeah I’m used to high sensitivity gaming and I think I do better…at least I think I keep it at a high sensitivity. It just occurred to me to check that maybe I don’t have it up.

Nice, thanks. will do asap

Throw lots of grenades and memorize power weapon spawns. Helps a lot.

Battlefront, Titanfall, and Destiny all ask of you different skills. Halo harkens back to the older skillset of Quake and its lot. Being good at Halo isn’t just about being able to point and shoot (or I’d be pretty bad); it’s about how you navigate the maps and what you pick up and use.

In a lot of modern shooters, you pick what weapons and tools you have before the match starts. Loadouts, they’re called. But Halo 5 doesn’t have loadouts – rather, you assemble your loadout every time you spawn, as you go, and as you play you’re always modifying your loadout according to your present needs. You switch your pistol for a battle rifle, then your assault rifle for the scattershot you knew would either be leaning on a pillar or not (if someone else got it first), then the scattershot runs out so you pluck the bolt shot from your foe’s corpse – until you spy an assault rifle lying off to the side, and you figure that’ll suit you better for the time being. That’s the kind of stuff that happens all the time during a Halo match. Evaluation, analysis, decision, and change.

Sure

Those shooters have very low kill times in comparison to Halo 5. It’s already apparent from this that you aren’t coordinating with your teammates as well because of your little need to in other games. The issue is how Halo’s meta highly centers around team shooting opponents, and if you aren’t positioning yourself within line of sight of your teammates, you’re screwed. Understanding when to engage opponents based on the proximity of your teammates will severely assist you in staying alive and earning more kills. The only times when you don’t need to thoroughly follow this rule are when you have power weapons or very easy tier 1 weapons like the BR and SMG or storm rifle.

Besides that, it’s ok to play the game slow. If you’re not on your A game and you’re sustaining high deaths, try to position yourself so that your teammates are in between yourself and your opponents, allowing you to stay alive and rack up assists. Watch your theater games of yourself after a bad game and see where you went wrong (such as too much aggression and too many 1v1 battles), assuming your teammates did fine or weren’t responsible for your loss of the game. Hopefully this helps.

I don’t use a mic which kind of hinders the communication but usually I try to follow my teammates.
Thanks though, I’ll try to take a slow.
