I couldn’t disagree with you more. I regularly go 20+kills with 10ish deaths and I am perfectly content with the progression of only 50xp per game, 100 if I’m using a boost. The challenges are just supplemental and I like that theres only so many in a given week.
What I’m getting at is, even tho I only play a few hours a few nights a week, I’m already at 52 out of 100. Granted almost half of that was because I bought into the premium pass, but the other half is from casually playing. I will have ZERO problem reaching 100 by the time the season ends. Only addition I would suggest is we should earn a portion of currency to go towards next season.
But seriously, I don’t understand why people feel they need everything right away, right this instant… They need instant gratification. Y’all sound like that spoiled brats.
Worst part is I seriously can’t stand that the levels matter so much to people. To a lot of people, the meaningless levels matters more than just playing each match and as an og Halo player, I just don’t get it. EACH GAME IS THE FUN, EACH GAME IS THE REWARD. New age games lost sight of playing just to play…
The game is fantastic and I’m so sick of all the complaining… I’d hate to say it but I can’t wait till most the new age gamers move on and play the next shiny thing and leave Halo to the Halo fans.
It’s actually 25 matches. Someone made a spreadsheet comparing the old system to the new one. You have to play more than 25 games for the exp change to make a significant difference. That’s about 3 to 4 hours of gameplay before it begins to net you more exp during your gameplay session. Honestly, I feel like a smooth progression would be 1 level every 30m of gameplay, or they could just do what the whole community is asking for and give us EXP based on performance.
The problem is that the game is telling you how to play. They present F2P players with one of the only ways to get free cosmetics for a bare bones system. You have to do challenges. Go get x weapon and get x kills. Go blow up x amount of warthogs. It’s not fun when the only goal we have is gated by chores. Each game is the fun, yes, but not when the vast majority are leaving games because it’s not the game mode they needed, or camping wasps because they need to do a challenge for it.
This fantastic game is negatively impacted by their lack of traditional customization, and their introduction of challenges.
Well, now we have a new system coming up soon for people to make a spreadsheet on! Haha. So I am happy enough with that for now. It’ll be about 1 hour for the first level, and then back to the 50xp per match.
Exp gains for the first 7 matches. They really need to do away with this. Just give exp based on performance, and make daily challenges general like get 5 headshot kills, or splatter 3 enemies. General things you normally encounter in gameplay, but even this is telling people how to play.
I do use double xps, but at the moment i am out, i used a good majority of mine before they were made an hour each
I dont need instant gratification, i need SOME.
I understand i shouldnt have everything right away, but limiting my ability to grind for the stuff i payed money for is absurd
You also bought an extra 25 levels with real money, while i did not and did not get the ease of being at the level your at, you literally paid extra real money for an easier grind, which is exactly what 343 wanted.
And apparently im a spoiled brat for wanting to use the content i paid for in a timely manner?? Do you read what you write before you post it??
We ARE the halo fans, fans are the ones doing the complaining because the systems at hand are flawed and antiplayer.
But im glad your happy with your content you paid half the game price for, but halo fans are not going away anytime soon so expect the complaining to continue until meaningful fixes and content are added to the game
It’s not punishing at all… In fact, it’s the exact opposite.
Under the current system, being good means:
If/when you use double XP boosts, you get FAR more value.
You are actually completling all the challenges in a week, meaning more Xp then those that aren’t.
Even when you finish all your challenges, you are already leaps and bounds above those players that haven’t, but you are also still getting the 50XP per match.
This isn’t to say that it’s perfect. But I’ve done the same thing both weeks (I mean that’s as long as the game has been available), and sitting at rank 27. I would imagine you are in the exact same boat.
Sure progress slows, but I don’t see how that is any sort of punishment.

Because after a certain threshold my ability to level up is capped, i shouldnt be gimped in my progression because other people cannot keep up, it makes no sense.
Every other battlepass understands this.
Further more, if making sure people were grinding was 343s intention, its a little scummy they cap progression but then allow you to buy your way through the entire pass
You aren’t making any sense. You can’t be “gimped” when you are literally at the most optimal amount of XP each week. No matter what way you slice it, you finishing all 21 challenges quickly, and playing 20 matches in a week, is >>>>>>>>> XP then somebody finishing 10 challenges and completing 20 matches. You are literally being rewarded with higher XP due to being a better player.
So while I’m rank 27, I play with people that are still around BP 10. They can’t go back in time and complete last weeks challenges. So every challenge they miss is a huge chunk of their available XP.
And this is even more inflated this week. Since using a double XP token for your first play session is going to amount to a silly amount of XP for the better players. In 1 hour you are essentially garneted 4 or 5 BP ranks in the first hour of play. I was averaging about 13BP ranks a week, and that is likely going to jump to 20-25 this week.
I paid $25 dollars not for the levels but to throw support to the devs for the FREE!!! I repeat… FREE GAME!!! Cosmetics have ZERO impact on gameplay… You want a level that MATTERS go play RANKED as that level denotes actual skill! Just like traditional Halo…
So yes, I’m sorry, y’all sound like spoiled brats because you want want want, and you want it right NOW. you’re literally playing the game FOR FREE. Additionally, IF you buy the pass, it doesn’t go away at the end of the season like other games, meaning once you buy it YOU HAVE EVERYTHING IN IT, you just have to work to unlock it… NO TIME LIMIT, YOU KEEP WHAT YOU PAID FOR. Which is a cut above other games! A major cut above honestly! That means people like me who dont get much time to play dont lose out on what we bought EVER.
And if I can be at level 52 with how little I get to play with a demanding career and 3 kids… so can you… That means I got 27 levels playing casually since release, and theres still like 150 days until the next season… and again, even if I don’t complete it in time, it never goes away so theres no “fear of missing out” like COD and other bs games that started this new trend in the first place… I can’t stress enough… with this system, if you pay the $10 for the pass, you get to KEEP the pass!!! forever. You HAVE the items, when you get to them. Its a very good system… I just dont see eye to eye with all the complainers, I think they wrong and frankly sound spoiled and entitled. Sorry.
ONE big however… I do feel the players that are playing for free, should be able to unlock more armor… ONE piece of armor at like level 80 something is unacceptable… on the other hand I guess $10 a season really isn’t all that bad… I mean, come on
I completely agree. I did the premium just to throw $25 bucks at 343 as a tank you for I game I love already. I play very casually, usually only a few hours a few nights a week and I’m at level 52. So I earned 27 levels playing casually and theres still like 150 days in the season. That means I’ll have NO problem getting to 100 by next season… AND even if I didn’t get to 100, this pass never expires unlike other games. Honestly, I think its perfect the way it is.
I am making more xp than many other players, that shouldnt mean there is a cap after im done earning that xp. Just because im earning more then other players shouldnt mean im met with an arbitrary wall that limits me after ive met said “xp quota” for the week.
I dont have any xp boosts left, not for a few levels, its goo that they changed the xp system a little bit today but ill have to see how it really effects my ability to level up before i say anything about it
So because i can keep the battlepass that rectifys anything thats wrong with it? Yeah its cool that i keep content i paid for (stunning take) but that alone doesnt make up for all the problems the battlepass has.
And F2P isnt an excuse, never was and never will be so please stop using it like one.
And how are the fans spoiled for wanting? Weve been expecting a halo that meets our expectations after all the years 343 has had to collect player data and such and yet we end up with a F2P disaster with less content then halo 5, paywalls everywhere, and a battlepass with rewards that arnt even worth the time put in to get them, like how crazy is it that after 10 years of having reach armour we would now have to pay for half of the reach armour.
You and me both man an OG halo fan here
What here constitutes an “og halo player” now?
Is it just letting 343 get away with whatever and blindly playing the game anyways? Because id consider myself an “OG FAN” too, since ive played since the first and second games at their respective launch periods
