It shows you losing points because after you go over the par time the time multiplier starts droppping. The score in the bottom right already includes the full time multiplier. Once you go over the par time it falls. Its a slightly confusing system compared to older games, but once you figure it out it makes sense
Yeah I get that; but why does it start reducing even with a positive multiplier?
If I can run par TIME on normal and still get the achievement, why does going for par SCORE, on Legendary, negatively affect my score? In my opinion it shouldn’t start cutting points until the multiplier falls below 1.0
Because the score showing is including the current time multiplier. So say you are on legendary and are getting the 3x score. The score on the bottom says 15,000. Your actual score is 5,000 times 3 for the par time. Say then you go over the par time and the multiplier drops to 2x (which I believe is 1.5x the par time, so say 30 mins in a 20 min par time) then your same score of 15,000 starts dropping to reflect the new multiplier. Which would put you at 10,000 now. It isn’t taking points per say but just slowly going down to relfect the new time multiplier.
The time multiplier is applied to the level as a whole. It isn’t 3x for the first 20 mins, then 2x for the next 10, then finally 1x until double the part time (still using a 20 min par time as the example).

Exactly! And I never even noticed the point drop at the end either in the other Halo’s.
Ahhh! Ok I see what you’re saying, that makes sense (?). I mean what you’re saying makes sense, but it doesn’t make sense from a developer standpoint. As such, my score has been negative before without any deaths or team killing, just showing my girlfriend Easter eggs. So that part is obviously a bug.
If I have 5,000 points and haven’t lost any by penalizations, I shouldn’t drop below 5,000; but I do.
For some reason I’m having a hard time hitting par on this game.
I have all the par time and score achievements, and you gota work hard and fast in the missions. This feels wrong to me because they have a TIME and a SCORE separately. So why are they so tied to eachother?
