Why has 343 decided our Spartan models here carry an AR instead of a DMR? Who even likes the AR? Not only is it useless (unless you use it as either a club or a paperweight) but its ugly too.
343 needs to change this. Give my Spartan a DMR when I look at my service record. Or a needle rifle, or a shotgun. Anything but that crappy AR.

The AR is garbage. Everyone knows its garbage. One kill per magazine, and that’s if you’re lucky enough that you get close enough to your opponent to hit them with it before they kill you. It would be more effective as a bat in a game of whiffleball than a weapon.

I love the AR! But wait, what do you mean Spartans hold the AR? Is this for Halo 4? Spartans in Halo: Reach lobbies hold the DMR.
In Reach, the AR is very underrated but still very weak. I use it because I like to pretend I’m an ODST and it is excellent for finishing weakened opponents off. You also have a lot of clips in a magazine. However, I think it needs to have higher damage.

Most people just hold down the trigger. Very few people burst fire.

Not in the matchmaking lobby in the game. I mean here, on Waypoint. When you check your service record your player model is holding an assault rifle.
But, yes the AR does need to be buffed in Halo 4 to make it a viable weapon. In Halo: CE you could actually destroy a Banshee with it. Since the introduction of the BR it has gotten more and more useless.

Besides, it’s 343’s call. If they wanted the weapon to be DMR from day one, it would have been that way. But they chose the AR.

I do wish they would adjust the lighting on the render though, my spartan from bnet looks much better.
It’s weird… I remember Waypoint used the same images as Bungie.net… then all of a sudden they changed. Is it actually just light exposure which is different?

I don’t really know what it is, but the colours on mine look all … muted or something. I blame the AR.

I’m kinda liking the AR now. I’m getting a lot of kills with it.
I think they should make Halo 4s AR just like halo ce’s. That would make it awesome.

I’ve actually started switching to it in close quarters, rather then try to DMR people from two feet away
Anyways, if this isn’t the epitome of a first-world problem, I don’t know what is!
If it kills I use it.
You Spartan model should be holding you favorite weapon (as determined my number of kills)
Although I actually prefer the AR because I know to use bursts, but a whole bunch of SWAT matches kinda screwed that up…
The Assist Rifle sucks, I’d rather have a Magnum or Plasma Pistol as my secondary weapon.
