Ok so I was under the impression that you were put into divisions based on your win loss ratio. Last season I won 63 percent of my games and so far this season I’ve won 80 percent. Last season I was gold and now I’m bronze.I don’t get it I have a better k/d a better win loss ratio and I’ve been rated in the 1500’s consistently. So I’ve done way better so far this season but I was put into a worse division. Does anyone know why?
Just keep winning!
The Arena system is set up to where, even if you have the best four games of your life all in a row, you still won’t be placed in the highest division.
Oh, and welcome to Waypoint!
I don’t think a lot of players have enough skill to reach the gold status. I never got past silver, personally. Due to not very many people using the gold medals in arena, 343 may have chosen to remove them from matchmaking.
Thanks it just doesn’t make sense cuz I’ve played 25 games won most of them but was put into a bad divison. I thought I’d get onxy cuz I’m doing so much better than last season and I made gold. I guess I’ll just keep playing and try to improve my placement.
To the best of my knowledge, the ranks of the players you beat matter. Winning against a Bronze player is not as significant as winning against a Gold player, and the ranking reflects that.
Last summer i played a lot of areana and managed to make it to gold by the end of the season. I’m an average player at best. You just have to keep playing. I took me until the last weeks of the season to make Gold. You won’t rank up fast in my experience, but if you keep winning and performing you WILL rank up.
The exact same thing happened to me this season. I went a mediocre 141-117 (55% wins) and finished Gold 60-70% last season. I played horribly, and barely scraped by with an even K/D. At one point, I was 40% Gold. Since I’m 19-9 so far this season (68%), I thought I would be at least in the Gold division, but I’m 15% Silver. My KD is slightly higher (still not good), and I’ve been getting better ratings, but I’m still in a worse division.
Does anyone know how the ranking system really works? Is it solely based on win/loss or does rating also played a factor?

Take a look at this thread on ForgeHub to get a better explanation!

This if you want to Rank up you have to beat better players to Rank up .
Also just keep playing it takes a few days to find you a spot – as you can go up or do without playing at all
One season I started out 90% onyx – And ended 8% Onyx you will move around depends on who you beat .and how good you do
