i played 10 games of doubles and won 7 with a 7.4 KDA and it ranked me as a platinum 1.
I saw a guy with 12 sniper matches under his belt with 7 wins and a 7.0 KDA and he was an onyx. Why am I being ranked so low?
Perhaps your opponents were low rank as well as that is a factor, along with what ever your past rank was. They also do seem to be a bit tougher with the ranks lately.

The people you fight count as well. You can to 25 and 0 every slayer match but if you go against golds you’ll be placed around there. You can go 12 and 12 every match and face onyxs and get ranked onyx
Great answer prophet, totally understand that. I guess I am just frustrated that I play doubles against an onyx 1810 and a champion 181, run 13 kills and 9 deaths on them but I am a plat1

bruh i got 8 wins out of 10 games in breakout and ranked platinum 1. With a about 20 more kills than deaths

You finished in diamond 1 last season in swat, and gold 4 in doubles. The last season’s rank is taken into account, so even if you won every single placement match you wouldn’t suddenly jump up a few divisions.
Your KD in both was about 1.1, which shows that you’re about where you should be. As usual, the ranking system is working fine.
Well you did win a majority of your games against people who were unranked, or low ranked, and then you lost against some low ranked players. Its usually best that you wait a couple days for people to get ranked first that way you can find better matches. The ranking system tries to establish a baseline, and if you are not playing against and winning against higher tiers they wont match you against higher tiers. If you are not matching against higher tiers they are not going to place you in a higher tier and make you scrape by every game.
As others have said, it really has a lot to do with (1) who you play, and (2) where you ranked in prior seasons.
I just finished 10 FFA matches last night mostly against unranked (because the season is young, I guess), Platinum, Diamond, and Onyx players. Overall, I got totally pwned with 1 win, 3 2nds, 3 4ths, 2 5ths, and 1 6th (last place)…KD was just 0.76.
They gave me Platinum 1…the same as the Winter season. I’m guessing because of that and that I didn’t face a single Gold until the last two games, coincidentally two of my best 
I’m betting if I had won all 10 games against Golds and Silvers then my placement rank would not have fared better.

What you were ranked last season is the biggest factor. I know someone who has been onyx in arena every season, lost every single match this season’s qualifying matches, and was ranked onyx 1700.

Not necessarily true… I reach Onyx Slayer in every season if I’m not placed into it (have been once or twice), and sometimes I’m placed into Diamond… this season I was placed into PLATINUM, which I will quickly rise out of lol.
But for the most part, in my experience, it places you lower than your ranking/tier…
The ranking system is flawed. I played against the number 1, 4, and like 19 Champions in Swat… Three times! They were on a team… I got Onyx 1531 something, I think. This last 10 Swat games I played to place were crazy. My teammates weren’t all that helpful.
I just don’t see how I even played against the Champion types. I know I’m a decent Diamond rank. Borderline Onyx.

I checked your game history and had a look at those players. They were cheating, as per usual these days. They had a fourth member, and if you check his account you’ll see that he ranked into bronze. This brings the average CSR for the group right down, and allows them to match up against lower ranked players. So they’re fake champions, and this further shows that smurfing needs to be fixed.

While your intent to tell another user to not blatantly insult others is good, talking negatively about their stats in return is an improper way to go about it.
Well, I still don’t understand the ranking system yet. I played with a lower ranked friend of mine 10 games to rank in breakout. I am an onyx in free for all and a diamond 4 in swat. I was not playing against skilled players but my buddy is not the best player either. I owned every game while he sucked just about every game. 75% win ratio. I ranked in silver I think a silver 4 while he ranked in gold I think a gold 2 if I remember. How can we have played all 10 games together and I did better than him in every way and I get almost a full tier less than him? Makes no sense sometimes.
It’s because Halo 5 uses some mysterious system to judge your skill level, then forever places you in a box. You can look at your previous seasons ranks in a particular playlist and be confident you will place just a bit below that for your new season rank. For example finish Platinum 3, place Gold 5. You can win all the placements or lose them all, it doesn’t make a dramatic difference because Halo has already decided your basic skill level. Only way out of the “box” is advance rank quite a lot or consistently lose. Either way, next season you’ll rank just a bit below where you finish this one. Isn’t it exciting that we get to do this over and over and over and over and over haha.
