Why do you guys think 343i has been so secretive t throughout the whole development of both Halo 5 and Halo Infinite?
Back in the day of Halo: Reach for example, Bungie regularly published these development “ViDocs” or something they were called and they always had just enough content to keep us the fans happy!
I’m starting to doubt the benefits of being so closed-off from the community? Why the secrecy?
The Vidocs were largely fluff pieces, marketing vids to help sell the games by showing how happy and passionate the devs were. It’s not like they provided meaningful insight to the dev process.
if 343 made a vidoc similar to how Bungie did, people would end up calling it fake and not explaining what they perceive to be a troubled development process. Seems like what people want from 343 is admissions of failure or for Jason Schrier to find some scandal about Infinite’s development.

There’s already ex 343 developers on glassdoor reviewing the work place as Hell, with incompetent leadership, old devs being snobs to new devs, too much outsourcing, and other stuff like that. So I think they would not fool many people with ViDocs showing how happy they are at 343.
The initial secrecy was tied behind Microsoft’s tight leash on anything to do with the new consoles (which was only amplified with their Cat and Mouse with Sony and who was going to reveal first).
I’m a bit lost now though. I could understand a couple of weeks, even a month, while they got their -Yoink- together after announcing the delay… but this prolonged content drought is starting to strain the relationship.
It’s either they are completely lost at sea and don’t know where to begin… or they are setting up a mega-surprise in November (eg. Halo Multiplayer with the launch of the new consoles).

Just saying, anyone can post to Glassdoor. While it’s entirely plausible, we also have to consider that

I honestly don’t get this idea of a “strained relationship.” When the game releases, none of this will matter. I don’t want a content drought, but it’s really not going to have long-lasting effects once the marketing gets into gear and the game releases. It just stings more given some of the marketing was tied to the console, so we are seeing elements of it, even though it’s not launching for a bit.

I hope you are right.
But it’s not exactly Public Relations 101 to completely shut up shop for such a long period… especially when you had already built up a surge of momentum in your fan base. Or, at least, I must have missed that chapter in the text book.
Sure, fans can be fickle… and all will be forgiven with a shiny new launch of the game.
But what they risk is a fanbase that will be a lot less tolerant to anything but a great product on day one. They will end creating a bigger spotlight than they needed… that’s a lot of pressure… and it may be a much longer road back from any otherwise minor set backs.
343 was all out about Halo 5 and that didn’t recieve the reception that they anticipated. They were hyping it up since shortly after Halo 4’s launch as they called it stuff like the “one of the darkest title in the series yet.” The reason they’re quieter about Halo Infinite is likely to avoid the same mistakes of the game not living up to the hype.

Hopeful attitude here, honestly I don’t feel like 343i is getting any slack when it comes to developing the next Halo but what does one expect when being responsible for creating arguably the most important FPS title in history ?
I’m airing more on the side of they are lost at sea with internal issues rather than they are setting up a mega-surprise for November. As much as I’d love multiplayer to be released first or even for a flight test this holiday… it isn’t looking likely… </3 Would you rather a split release i.e multiplayer in November and Campaign in spring? or delay it all and release both at the same time?

They don’t really have a lot of room for slack, really. They’re working on Halo, one of if not the biggest title Xbox has to offer, and if they end up making a game that flops I don’t think anyone’s gonna give them any mercy, fans and Microsoft alike. The delay for the game at least tells me for sure they’re aware that they don’t have a lot of wiggle room, so I hope they’re working on making Infinite as fine as it’ll be on launch.
I’m also worried about what problems there could end up being at 343, but to be frank we don’t know much at all to say they are or aren’t in an absolute dumpster fire of communication. Sure, its been 5 years since the last mainline Halo FPS, and at least the game itself has been in development for 3 years, and we have the Glassdoor comments, but none of that is solid guarantee. Of course they’d never outright say they’re in development hell, but we need something a lot more hard hitting to say for sure.
Just speculation.
If I were them, I would keep the game together and deliver both Multiplayer and Campaign together. Yes, its been 5 years, and man does five years sting, but if the game launching Holiday 2020 meant it would be chopped up and served to us in parts then I would’ve been willing to wait another year if need be. 343 has gotten a ton of flak before for giving us parts of what we expect in a Halo game over time instead of having them all at launch. We had problems when 5 launched without Forge, cause we expected that to be there at launch.
Probably because its having problems. Everyone saw how average to poor Infinite looked back in July and thats after 4+years of development. I think leadership at 343 needs a serious overhaul. I dont feel encouraged that we will see any meaningful changes in a few months delay.
Cuz it builds suspense. Look at all of us, debating over whether they have anything to show! Or have a lot to show. Or have a little to show. Obviously it is working. I think they have a medium amount to show but find it fun to watch us all squirm.

Why would they reveal anything prematurely when they could just let you see for yourself when it comes out besides the actually spectacular stuff.
In addition the Halo community on the whole is incredibly complainy. Literally -Yoinking!- everything gets scrutinised because its not the right shade of blue or something dumb.
After the questionable mainline Halo titles 343 have released, they are not hyping the new Infinite much. They know a lot is riding on Halo: Infinite, and 343 (and Microsoft) do not have a great track record with Halo 4 & 5.
My personal theory is that they r now overhauling significant parts of the game like they supposedly did with halo 5. And after the advertising campaign that totally mislead fans last time around they can’t say anything this time while still changing things. Either way after a 5 year dev cycle, I’m a bit upset it has come to this. Microsoft is buying up developers hand over fist, if 343I doesn’t come through in a big way I would totally stand by Microsoft disbanding them and giving Halo to a studio that can actually handle a title of that caliber.
Right now it’s because they want us to forget about the demo they showed in July, get rid of the bad taste those graphics left us with, so that we’re wowed when they re-reveal it and think of the improved Infinite they’re working on now as something completely different

same here. he seems genuine in his videos and offers a lot in terms of lore. doesnt seem to be effected too much by other youtubers/content creators which adds to his original-ism and most of what he states, I tend to agree with. halo follower and halo cannon are some of my other go-to content pushers. it really helps pass the time.
