Why all the negativity?

Every time I get on this forum, all I see are posts that complain and groan about the new additions and very few people seem to actually like what they see. Would you all rather it be like CoD where it’s the exact same game every time with added perks? I know Halo 2 & 3 were great games and Reach fell short in most areas, but Halo 4 looks to be like it can be the best Halo yet IMO. And I’m not complaining, I’d like to know what you think, so please DISCUSS!

There are ways in which one can improve a game without completely overhauling it. There are also ways in which you can add things to a game without causing serious imbalance issues.

This is why we’re complaining.

I figured, but they are adding elements from all the games, and also adding new stuff, it’s being evolutionary, not revolutionary.

Unlike people who have negative things to say, people with positive feelings about Halo 4 generally don’t feel the need to post about it, hence the perceived abundance of negative feedback.

I actually don’t think Reach fell short, I think the community let it fall short.

I know, I agree with you, I enjoy reach, I was just saying that that’s what it seems like

People love to complain about everything, but when the game comes out they stop caring unless it’s a real legitimate issue. Take, for example, the Left 4 Dead 2 boycotters.

Sorry I never heard of them boycotting L4D2, why were they boycotting?

> Sorry I never heard of them boycotting L4D2, why were they boycotting?

They complained about it being too similar to L4D 1 and that it should’ve been an expansion, along with a few other issues. There was a huge group dedicated to boycotting it, then when the game came out, half of them or more were playing it.

> Sorry I never heard of them boycotting L4D2, why were they boycotting?

A lot of people thought it was coming out too early (a year after L4D1) and claimed they were trying to milk the franchise and their wallet. Especially since they believed that L4D1 would be getting years of added campaign content.

When the second game came out, someone went onto the boycott group and took a screenshot of 98% of all players who had joined it playing the game.

Same thing happend with Modern Warfare 2.

It’s basically the same with every game series, though. People complain about every single little thing about a game before it comes out, but then when it actually does they buy it and play anyway. I can understand if a game has REAL issues that need fixing, but most of it is things people just need to get over.

Haters Gonna Hate.

The first thing people wanna do when they dislike something they see about Halo 4, is post a Negative thread about it to get a reaction out of people. They wouldn’t post if they knew everyone was going to agree with them

Gaming Forum = Feedback, majority of that Feedback is complaints. That is why there is such negativity.

Oh, that’s rich! People need to clam down.

But yeah, too many people who feel they was burned back in Reach’s release are negative cause they’ve started thinking that anything different from what Halo 2 and Halo 3 was is bad change, and they throw around the “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it” statement around like they know what’s broke and what’s not, which they also say “if it’s broke, remove it”. Some of what they say is fine, but there is a lot of times when they act like it’s their way or the high way, or that they’re the majority, which isn’t true, they may or may not be the majority of the voiceful community on the forums, but they are not the majority of the Halo community has a whole.

I see just as many threads asking the same question you just asked. How boring would it be if everyone shared the same opinion about everything? If you don’t have debates, you make no progress.

I think its kind of a bit of perception, some people on the forum aren’t trying to be negative, they’re just expressing their opinion in a negative fashion. although there are also people who are straight up haters and they will complain in non constructive way. When I post, if I’m not happy about something in particular, I try and make my posts as neutral as possible to avoid negativity.

Also, some people can’t detect sarcasm on the internet. I feel like a lot of people get angry at me for joking or sarcastic remarks.

Create some positive threads to help balance things out

As I said, its all about how people perceive what they read.

Because Reach sucked according to a lot of Halo fans and all the changes that are being made, remaind them of all the bad things that Bungie added in Reach instead of going back to the Halo roots.

I’m not saing i’m one of them anyways.
