The elites in the TV series are too ugly.Their round armor looks very heavy.
I’m very disappointed.
I honestly think the halo 2A Cortana was more real looking than the series version. They don’t have her facial movements correct and it comes off wrong. 2A got it right
Who is going to watch a show where we already know everything that is going to happen?
“Lets just make a live action version of Halo CE-3.”
How about we don’t?
I don’t like the alternate timeline, but I’m not as opposed to this as I was when they were still in production.
Is Cortana going to throw me off, probably…anyone who wanted to see some Halo 4 version of her are off their rocker. As for Steve, not voicing the Chief…I actually thought Schieber sounded okay.
I came into this thinking this was going to be a total failed -Yoink!- and frankly its looking watchable.
I am not going to hate on something I haven’t seen, but I also am not excited at all for this TV show. Two reasons for that:
- 343 has not yet written a good story for anything in the Halo universe. Their writing and storytelling are just bad. It’s been so bad that they had to write an entire game (Infinite) to undo two previous bad game’s worth of narrative (H4 & H5).
- Every live action Halo production so far has been situated on the scale of cringe / bad / mediocre.
Lol I’ve blocked out all of the Halo 5 experience from my memory.
1: There’s no guarantee that it won’t be in the series
2: The combination of that, an AK in the show, and the terrible Marvel-esque presentation of it, and it’s clear this show will be a poorly written flop.
For me, it being non-canon (having it’s own timeline is basically just a soft “It’s not canon” in my opinion), coupled with some of the weird decisions they’ve made for the narrative turn me off. I enjoy Halo specifically for its universe, and if they’re ignoring/changing a bunch of that, I’m not interested. There are so many ways they could have made it fit easily into the existing universe, but the choice not to kills my interest.
Regarding the Witcher, you’re right about Geralt, they did a good job with is character. But almost all of the side characters were changed in some way in the show. They made changes (a combination of narrative and appearance) to Cahir, Fringilla, Triss, Vilgefortz, Francesca, etc. They also added a lot to Yennefer’s background, and cut out some of Ciri’s. And introduced and killed Eskel in the same episode when he’s still alive in the games/books.
The point is I like some of those changes and disliked others, but I still like the show overall. I do agree that I would rather them just make as close to a 1 to 1 adaptation of Halo’s story (I mean I feel like the Fall of Reach novel is very adaptable) as possible, but no TV show or movie based on a book and/or video game has ever been successful in doing that. The best examples I can think of are the LOTR movies (which obviously had a ton of changes, but still got the feel of the books right) and Watchmen (really the only movie that has tried to be a direct scene to scene adaptation).
I am skeptical of the Halo show, but I feel like some of the trailer criticisms are overblown. I think Cortana looks alright. I’ve seen some people say that she’s just a live action actress and not a hologram, but she does appear to be CGI to me and has the text running through her hair, so I think she is a hologram. I do agree they could just up the blue hue on her though. And they were never going to use Steve Downe’s voice after they cast Pablo Schrieber. He is too good of an actor to never show his face. The only thing I really don’t like at this point is the whole human raised by the Covenant thing.
I am all for constructive criticism, but what the heck is wrong with some of you. The negativity on here is next level awful.
Show looked pretty good to me, who cares about changes. Also, sometimes you need to make changes to make shows believable, and not suck.
I care about changes. I mean, you are in the forum section about the Halo universe’s fiction - which generally centers around a cohesive narrative - and making changes to that does legitimately detract from the experience if that’s what you enjoy.
How do you know it will detract from the experience? All you have seen is the trailer. I agree, not all changes are good, but give it a chance.
Just the fact that it’s not canon detracts from my experience, since I enjoy media in the canon universe. The fact that they’ve changed backstories to characters detracts from my experience, since I enjoy the backstories those characters already have. I think the important thing you’re missing is that it will detract from the experience for me. If it doesn’t detract for you, cool, whatever, enjoy! But I know what I wanted, and it isn’t capable of delivering that, and thus I’m not excited for it.
To me it seems like wasted effort since it’s not real Halo. It’s an alternative time line. What is the point in that? It’s just a production company using Halo’s likeliness to make a show. Doesn’t mean it won’t necessarily be good. Red vs Blue isn’t cannon and it is awesome. Just going to have to wait and see. I for one hope it comes on regular tv or something as I don’t want to pay a subscription fee for it.
The only thing with Cortana is that with the wig and contacts, the CGI makes her looks like a rubber doll. i get what they were trying to do and maybe they can clean it up.
Voice, I don’t mind.
Non-canon I’m actually thankful. This won’t affect the games and can be unpredictable. I like it!
Overall look and plot. I don’t mind. not even the girl raised by the covenant (aside from it feeling like they didn’t want to just have an interesting alien to begin with)
However, what I do mind is, again, rubber cortana, and that I feel like for a human raised by the covenant, and the 2 lines we got, her dialogue is written like a fan fic and the delivery of a cringy teen.
I’m holding out hope that the series will be good. I love everything else.
But those two points, stick with me the hardest.
I mean, are we still 500 years in the future?
They could change that so that the games closer to our own time.
cause its more than just cortana and chiefs voice, it just looks like garbage
did the word g3nd3r get censored from your post?
lets find out
gender
I mean in all fairness, it would be more logical for the UNSC equipment to exist if it were 2152 instead of 2552… there’s no way that we’d still be using traditional firearms and diesel engines by then.
That said, I’m just so incredibly not on board with this new timeline/canon thing, and particularly if this new canon involves AKs and Chevrolets
Because we can check its IMDb credits to see that it’ll be, at best, mediocre.
Yeah it did always feel odd that they picked 550 years in the future. Star Trek is only 300-400 years. Especially because in some of the older lore there were only meant to be a dozen UNSC colonies, which thankfully got retconned because that would be dumb.
