They changed the aim assist formula and i dont know why. Noticed it immediately.
For some reason i can aim in halo 1-5 no problem. The aiming in Infinites MP just feels so wonky.

Itâs because infinite doesnât have aim assist, it has aimlock. In older Halos there was a sort of bubble around enemy players, and when your reticle entered the bubble your aim sensitivity would slow down, allowing more precise control. In infinite you donât get any slowdown, but when your reticle touches an enemy it sticks HARD and doesnât want to let go, but only when youâre not actively aiming. When you actually try to use your right stick youâll find your reticle flying off the enemy all the time. This video goes more in depth but thatâs the short answer for why aiming in this game feels like trash. https://youtu . be/_UoOQ7o5Yiw?t=99
That explains why I suck so much at aiming, especially at game modes like tactical slayer. Then again, I donât think my aiming is that good to begin with, and I just suck at it.
Infinite doesnât have trash aiming, just trash default controller presets.
Its been this way since the flights and during the flights i came up with this control scheme and it has worked for my friends and me very well. Many others posted extra help here too:
Need help aiming in Infinite? (if it feels off to you try this set up for controllers)

This scheme is designed to make it feel like older Halo games and other older shooters. In recent years every game series has been changing their aiming systems and i always have to drastically change it to make it feel like games used to before the last few years. Anyways hope this helps.
No it definitely has trash aiming, watch the video I linked at the end of my previous post. No amount of fiddling with the settings can fix the aiming in this game, it needs a fundamental overhaul from the devs.
People say this then i play it and it feels buttery smooth. With my set up it actually feels a lot like Destiny aiming which is a great thing. Yes the system could use work and more options (give me the ability to turn off aim acceleration and choose a linear aim response please) but its not unusable.
I get its frustrating but maybe reading the tips in my thread might help because i honestly donât see 343 messing with it at all. They canât seem to keep up with the work load as isâŚ
I tried every setting you can imagine 6 months ago, none of them feel good, and none of them feel like Halo aiming. As I said before, the way aim assist works in this game is fundamentally different from the older Halos, and thereâs nothing we can change in the settings to make it feel like Halo. Can we make it feel better than default? Yes, but even the best settings feel awful compared to how MCC handles aiming.
Have to disagree here. The older games were great for their time as far as aiming is concerned (i think CE holds up the best in this regard) but after i made that set up i find it very hard to enjoy how older Haloâs feel (aside from CE, that game still feels incredible to play). [There is no doubt CE-3 are just better games all around but when it comes to aiming i definitely enjoy Infinite way more].
I gave you the best advice i could with that thread, i wish i could help more, and for everyoneâs sake i do hope 343 addresses the issue but not sure i can help further than that. Good luck out there.
every casual gamer will be turned off by infinites aiming. ive seen how they aim. they literally look drunk. the aim system is not intuitive. that is why older halos feel better because you could just pick up and play and not have to practice in bot matches until your aim is warmed up.
Yeah thats due to the default controller setup. I am not sure who came up with Infiniteâs but they are bad at their job.
thats only a small part of the problem. my settings are tuned. i let my sister play on my xbox and she still couldnt aim. maybe if i put it on 1 sensititiviy sheâd have better aim but forcing casuals to play low sensitivity sounds like another reason to not play the game
