Some topics discuss that Achilles should be exclusive to those who made it up to the SR152, others say that only member from a company which actually made it through the grind of H5 should receive it for Halo Infinite.
In my opinion, this shouldn’t be the case. It’s the same with the Recon armor in Halo 3 where you were only able to receive the Recon Armor-Set if you had beaten all the Vidmaster Challenges [I know, in the last year/half year before Reach everyone was able to gain that armor if I’m correct] and with the Release of Reach, everyone was able to buy ot with the cR.
Even if I totally don’t like the Achilles-Set it should be able to everyone in Halo Infinite. It was more rare in Halo 5 of course. Like the Recon in Halo 3.
Disagree, that idea would be disappointing to everyone who worked to gain the Achilles. That’s why the armor means something. If there ever comes a point where the armor can no longer be gained, give it away then. Otherwise, it can currently be earned in Halo 5.

Watch Halo 3 with Recon - it was totally fine that the armor was reserved there - and it was okay that it was able for everyone in Reach.
And to be fair - why should anybody play Halo 5 just to gain Achilles if Infinite is out?
It’s totally fine if it will be able to everyone - besides it was way easier to gain the Achilles, Recon was there more complicated. For the one you just needed time and many players, not matter how good they were - for Recon you needed mostly a goodd team, looking to the Halo 3 Legendary with Iron and the ODST Last Mission with Iron and Firefight Challenge
Im against giving it out for free as much as im against giving out free tax payer money who dont/havent paid into the tax system here in the US. Simplest way I could put it.

If it would be avaible for everyone in Halo 5 I would be on your side - but it’s a new game, so it’s totally okay.
Bungie made Recon avaible for everyone with Reach - 343 did nearly the same with Helioskrill [which requires way more skill to gain than the grinding for Achilles] but released it later in Halo 5 for everyone - which was kinda fail.
Infinite is a new game.
The tax example is to be honest a stupid one.
Would be more accurate that you have no healthcare in the US but once you got to a country like germany you gain something good - healthcare by state.
So why not allowing players to get it?
I got Recon by unlocking the Vidmaster achievements, but not by fulfilling the initial requirements in H3. It felt a bit wrong. However, the cool factor was completely ruined when you saw idiots with poor reputation and who constantly betrayed teammates rocking one of the most Legendary sets right after it was handed out to everyone during the transition in 2012.
But, I thought it was cool to see Recon included in Reach. New game, new Spartan generation, and different art style. Thus, seeing Recon didn’t affect my perception of anything in H3 itself. I also got the pre-order bonus, which is only second to Achilles on my list of favorite armor sets. So, I think Achilles should be available to unlock for everyone in Infinite. It’s going to look different and it won’t hold the same reputation in HI like it does in H5, just like Recon in Reach was totally different from Recon in H3. You still get to use an armor set that looks cool in itself. As long as the requirements remain the same in H5, I don’t see anything wrong with making it easier to acquire in Infinite.
I also hope 343i creates an “Achilles for Infinite” - something that takes a lot of teamwork and dedication to unlock. Even with all of H5’s flaws, some of my favorite moments came while going for Achilles and I think Infinite would benefit from something like it.

So comparing tax payers to non-tax payers within the US is stupid but comparing healthcare systems between two countries thousands of miles apart…yeah i see your point.
the point in fact was the grind it takes to get the armor to begin with. Hence the specialty weapon/armor coating in H5 to get in Infinite. The Achilles set was also attained in H5 so why not only give it out to those players in Infinite. The Achilles set was introduced in H5 whereas Recon was around/in more games for a bit longer before the giveaway period. If anything keep it exclusive to those who’ve earned it and after sometime then release it for everyone else.
Regardless how the cards fall I think releasing armor that was once hidden behind an achievement most certainly ‘cheapens’ the armor in some degree or another. I’ve always liked seeing armor unlocked a specific way and it appears Infinite is heading in that direction once again.

Forgive me if I am mistaken, but wasn’t it actually 343 who unlocked the armour for everyone at some point during or before their takeover of the franchise and the then most recent game, Reach? I’m not sure why they did that, what with Reach being the centre of attention at that time, but it doesn’t really matter to me, as I missed it.

Yes, it was. I made a ton of edits to my post, so I apologize for that. Typed something up, thought it looked right, and immediately realized I needed to edit it. Repeat 5x. Not the smoothest process today lol. I think you caught me between edits.

If you’re saying Achilles should be given in Infinite, then that is a different story. I am fine with Achilles being easier in Infinite. Achilles is the penultimate armor in Halo 5, one that my company and I worked hard to achieve. So Achilles should never be given away for the foreseeable future imho.

I don’t think it should be. That said, 343I did a poor job in how you obtain it in 5. A player shouldn’t be forced to play certain modes or playlists just to obtain something (kill x Marines, snip the driver x times, etc) absolutely ridiculous! Hence why my clan will never get it as most of us hate or aren’t really fans of Warzone.
After spending months hopping on and focusing on only the grind with my company and bsing 4th to get the helmet, I strongly disagree. I’d really be disappointed to see all that work for nothing.

If anything they should make it a reward in infinite for completing a grind in halo infinite. Giving away the armor coating for sr152 is a nice nod to those who grinded halo 5 but to those who think they are entitled to something in a new game because of what they did in a game that came out 5 years ago you are crazy. Idc if you have never touched halo in your life or put 5000+ hours into halo 5, unlocking the armor in one game does not make it a “right” to have it in the next game, you should earn it in that game to use it in that game.
I think if Achilles is in Infinite it should be obtainable within that game. What I mean by that is I don’t think you should have to do anything in any other Halo, I hate that kind of stuff.

I wouldd understand both of you if that unlock-thing would take place in Halo 5 - but Halo Infinite is a totally new game, new chances, new players. So locking a group of players away from it is simply just cutting content. Would be a total other thing if 343 would have said, that you will gain Achilles-Set in Halo Infiite too one you own it in 5. But they never did and so they should never, never come up now with the idea of reserving it for a small group of players who earned it in an older - 5 years old game.

I don’t think anyone is feeling ‘entitled’…it’s the topic of the conversation. Furthermore it’s the same concept of SR152 as it pertains to Infinite or the vid master challenges, helioskrill for legendary completion, etc. it’s a legacy reward essentially and the whole idea of a legacy reward is to reward those who have put time into the franchise not reward those who have no legacy and feel entitled that they should get everything as well without getting the achievements required.

In this case, lets block the Mark VI armor from Halo 4 cause many people didn’t finished the game on Legendary, also lock everyone from the Recon armor who didn’t got all the Vidmaster Achievements and lock the Achilles Set?
Sounds really stupid to me.

You guys are getting butt-hurt over an in game armor. Halo 4 was what-10 years ago. Recon was unlocked after a similar timeframe. The topic of conversation wasn’t what 343i said or didn’t say. The topic was Achilles should be unlocked for everyone. To which people replied and a few of you took offense for people not agreeing with you and posting in your topic. People gave alternate ideas and their opinions given how rare the armor was to begin with…are you guys guying to cry when armors, armor coatings, visors, etc are hidden behind achievements too? Or only because they aren’t free for everyone. Y’all are on the side of “entitlement’…those of us that have the armor already in H5 made the grind and of course are going to say keep it exclusive because as a Spartan in Spartan-esque armor it shows that we accomplished something that others haven’t. Don’t take our sense of pride for entitlement…they’re at different ends of the spectrum.
once again giving legacy rewards to People who have no legacy in the franchise.
