why 85% bloom?

Bloom is awful in every way. Why would anyone want the randomness to stay in any way. Make the guns shoot slower or have more recoil. But do not just lessen the amount of randomness I have to deal with. I had high hopes for 343. But, I am disappointed in how the final playlists and settings will be. Why do people frown upon spamming? I feel like spamming and being accurate is skillful. If you have to pace your shots it means you aren’t good enough to shoot quickly and accurately. But what do I know.

85% bloom just encourages spamming making it even more random. It’s like, 85% you’ll get the 5-shot by spamming, but that 15% still screws you over sometimes.

Universal bloom would be optimal but there are many others that simply don’t like it and prefer regular Reach or 85. You’d be forcing players (who may not come on these forums or don’t even play the TU) to play under settings they don’t know about or don’t like.

It’s the same as forcing someone to eat Apples though they hate them and then telling them they have eat nothing apples even though they like oranges. It’s horrible example i know but many players will simply stop playing because they are used to such sub optimal settings.

85 percent is the compromise for default Reach players. ZB will have it’s own niche and player base. I agree that bloom is rather inconsistent (made apparent by bad hosts and connections) and random at times but digress.

I honestly felt as if 85% was worse than the original. The bloom is just harder to judge.

People just have to get over it. It is fairly obvious that a great deal of people had issues with the multiplayer. Make a universal change or none at all. The playlists needed to be lessened as it was. The population is too spread out. You can’t have players playing three different halo games at the same time. It just doesn’t make sense. Not everybody votes for the candidate that becomes president but he still becomes president because the majority voted him in.

Because ALL weapons were designend and balanced around the bloom system. Ever thought about what would happen if ZB becomes standard in all playlists. Using other weapons would be totally pointless. Some weapons like the DMR and Needler have unlimited range (in Halo 3 the BR and sniper, for example, had a limited). It’s already annoying enough that the DMR can shot across Hemorhage from Base A to B. I dont need this to be worse with ZB, seriously.

I like the 85% bloom more than ZB, and I’m one of people who actually hate the bloom stuff in Reach.

ZB dmrs = great but a little bit too fast paced
85% dmrs = spamming at mid range = reticle same size as halo 3
85% dmrs = pacing long range (or spamming BS long range)

85% dmrs online > ZB DMRs online because of bloom and hitscan’s lag buff.

Bloom was a terrible idea in general. 343 really got my hopes up when they acknowledged that Bloom is a problem. The ZB matches that I have played have been the best matches I have ever seen on Reach. Bloom is just random and all reducing bloom will do is just add more of an incentive to spam… therefore leading to more randomness. Bloom has to be done away with completely in order to keep the game consistent. Im really hoping that 343 keeps ZB. I would also love to see other ZB playlist such as ZB doubles added to the mix as well.

ZB isn’t going anywhere, it’s still going to get support. 343 might make the pistol a pick up due it being OP and turns ZB into ZB Team Pistols.

While i like 85 bloom, it’s just not my thing in general. Can’t even trust your own bullets when you fire the gun at optimal pacing, that sucks

While I know there is wide dislike of bloom in general, I really feel that some of the things coming with the TU are truly going to change the game for the worse, I know that the bloom as it was isn’t liked by many but I truly believe that Halo:Reach as it was prior to all this new change was as perfect as a FPS online can be.

Obviously it is MY opinion, I think that the TU would be acceptable so long as bloom went untouched, armor lock retained the ability to shed sticky grenades and that the overall camo energy was left alone only implementing the shortened time while staying still.

On a similar note, anyone know if there will be any playlists left with all the original settings intact? You know, like no TU playlists?

yes, Vanilla Reach will definitely still be available.

I’m that much disappointed as you OP.
We still have the new Classic playlist.

For ZB Slayer being so popular, I haven’t played it once in the playlist…

I’m not very happy with the way the playlists turned out. Anniversary Squad and BTB should NOT have Anniversary Classic gametypes in them. Anniversary Classic gametypes with no AAs and 3sk pistol should be strictly the Classic playlist. I feel the new Squad and BTB playlists should play like the Reach TU; they should have zero bloom with some changes to balance it out. Here is my proposition:

-Reduce the rate of fire of the DMR, magnum, and NR.
-Introduce bullet spread. Have the DMR operate similar to the Carbine in terms of bullet spread.
-Reduce auto aim and the distance that the reticle turns red and “locks on.” This will eliminate the DMR’s ability to shoot across the map, which no gun should have except the sniper.
-Make the DMR a 4sk and the magnum a 5sk. The magnum should be a sidearm in slayer, and in BTB it should be an assault rifle.
-Make bloom on the AR and Plasma Repeater 85% to make them slightly more accurate and useful. A slight damage buff would be nice too.

With these changes, I feel zero bloom would be perfectly balanced and feel like Halo again. The majority wants bloom gone, but it needs to be fixed first. For the minority that want bloom tweaked or the same, all I have to say is that they’ll have to get over it. Bloom is not Halo, and I think 343 realized this and has no plans on putting bloom in Halo 4. These people shouldn’t be lied to, they should be given an early start on getting used to what Halo is. Listen to the majority, 343.

Wanna know a secret?
Reach benefits from bloom.
It was built with that mechanic in mind. The guns already shoot slow enough. Slowing down ROF would only slow the game play down even more, which would hinder it. I’m for the changes and tweaks 343i is doing to the gameplay. From my time playing the CEA update and watching the vids, it looks to me like they are heading in the right direction.

I kind of like what they did but I want someone to clarify:
The playlists listed in the weekly bulletin - those are CEA playlists right? if so, are they also reach playlists? also, will reach be getting some TU love? I want 85% TU slayer DMRs, or 85% TU objective…

Vanilla Reach is being untouched.
CEA Reach is the one with the changes.
This way, the Reach lovers will still get their normal Reach dose and the “classic” lovers can play their CEA version.

And it separates the community, which is already small enough right now, into different sections. People don’t play games to get 3 different experiences, the game has to be relatively the same universally. And what about people like me, who just want a modified Reach? I myself won’t be playing the classic playlists, as a 3sk pistol is too much, and I like innovation. Default Reach is unbalanced, so I think with the right modifications we could have a game that is classic in a sense, and a game that feels new.

Reach failed to balance and innovate in the right direction, but 343 could fix it.

I agree 100%. You can’t create 3 different games on 1 disc. It just won’t work. I understand having the special combat evolved playlists. But, fix default reach along with that. Why did they have the tu beta playlists? The title update I thought was supposed to be for reach and not combat evolved. Whoever actually thinks bloom brings more skill to halo is an absolute idiot. I’m sorry but it is true. There is no way you can justify that bloom is good. Not possible

> 85% bloom just encourages spamming making it even more random. It’s like, 85% you’ll get the 5-shot by spamming, but that 15% still screws you over sometimes.

I haven’t noticed this. 85% just seems like slower ZB to me. With the faster reset as long as you’re not mashing the trigger, your shots will go where you aim. It seems that I out DMR more people on 85% bloom than I do on ZB, but that could just be that I was coincidentally facing more limited kids in 85%. Either way, while 85% doesn’t punish spamming as much, it doesn’t punish pacing at all that I’ve seen. So it means that a pacer will never get “my reticule was 90% reset and I pulled the trigger 1/10th of a second too early, yet my shot didn’t hit, and they were fully spamming and won the 1v1” situation. Now, as long as you semi-pace, it’s all about your aim.

IMO ZB vs 85% is primarily about kill times now and less about bloom failing. Also 85% bloom 4SK pistol is so much more balanced than zb pistol; it can stay a secondary in 85%, as only a 4 or 5 shot will beat a DMR user (as opposed to the 8SK Pistol that beats a 5SK DMR in ZB).

Wow after typing this I actually kind of like 85% bloom. THE REACHTARD VIRUS IS FINALLY TAKING OVER MY BRAIN FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!

Edit:

Also all the talk about “3 different games”; No game is going to please everyone, and you can’t play a casual game competitively (having NBA playoffs at a local school’s Basketball court) . While you CAN play a competitive game casually (ex: kids playing basketball on an NBA court), Casuals would rather play it casually (on a court at a local school with a lower hoop).

There’s different “kinds” of basketball, like a said earlier, so why not have different “kinds” of Halo, for different crowds. The basketball population would be much smaller if you could ONLY play basketball on an NBA regulation court (I know nothing about basketball, but I’m just using common sense in this argument), so there’s more “relaxed” or “casual” versions of the hyper competitive game.

Maybe this is the future of esports, just as it happened to physical sports.
