Why $7 for a single helmet?

The best question is…why would anyone pay any amount of money at all for something that has absolutely no effect whatsoever? This game is completely free, at least the multiplayer portion.

You morons that spend money on this, what do you get out of it? Do you win more games than you otherwise would have and/or are your stats better?

I get to look like a Spartan Kitty and I get to play the story mode.
And being a Spartan Kitty leads to more victories because the enemy targets you for being adorably cute, but their behavior becomes more erratic and less focused; resulting in more shots missed and I end up on top a lot of the time.

Haha it’s hilarious when people have these stupid overpriced cosmetics on that make them easier to spot quickly. Then when I beat them I get to know they actually wasted physical money on an incomplete game by a developer that doesn’t care about them or us past their wallet. There’s some form of bliss sitting back and watching people waste their money and think the developer cares about the series they love. I mean it’s funny but also sad because at the same time the experience is going downhill.

It’s funny you mention that. I don’t have an issue with people enjoying their cosmetics, but there is a staggering amount of people on these boards that insists a lack of such (or nothing getting them all for free) is somehow inhibiting their ability to play a completely free game. It’s am assertion I have difficulty understanding.

I also disagreed with the $7 price point. I believe $5 would be more appropriate. Furthermore, the store should be much larger by now. Instead of weekly change ups. Some of us are far too busy. It’s okay to have some things rotated- but too few options at present. Hope you guys are listening, peace and love

I usually try to avoid getting too deep into this issue, but I’m getting tired of 343 Industries poking my wallet with a stick to see if it’ll bite.

There’s so many ways to go about monetized customization. And yet, with so many proven examples, they insist that they have to once again reinvent the frequently reinvented wheel and go for something both totally unfitting and frankly disgusting.

I disagree that $5 would be reasonable. Have you ever played the Sims? I have. The Sims 4 is now 8 years old and still gets regular content updates for free. They sustain themselves off sells of actual expansions, and you know what you get for $5 there? A lot with over 20 different items. The cost to make one helmet doesn’t justify a $5 price tag in my opinion.

Now, I know, I know, the Sims has had tons of optional expansions they’ve sold over the years to help sustain it’s longevity. But Infinite could too. We could get Campaign expansions. In fact, prerelease the campaign was referred to by 343 as a campaign pass, so we likely will get more “campaign passes”. So if they’re gonna be selling expansions, I don’t see why they need to charge $5 for a helmet, let alone $7, when other games give you over 20 times that amount of content for $5.

And there it is.

idk…with acid burn being just an AR coating for $3 after being stripped from a bundle, kinda feel they should just make a cycling storefront for bundles and a store for singulars. That HCS store is beginning to become an eyesore to me and with the list of things people want to see available i feel they could utilize that sub-menu catalog better. :sleeping_bed:

You can blame the industry as a whole as how games are even structured anymore. They rather produce games that are like 85% complete and flex seal it with cosmetics over internal issues for months. They don’t care, as long as they keep making profits that’s all they will boast about over anything else.

FROMSOFTWARE and Santa Monica Studios, the last bastion of good game developers that act like the video game is the product customers are buying so they focus on making a great game instead of cutting it into pieces to figure out how to sell it to the customer in 17 different ways at extra cost.

I don’t understand why this is so hard for other companies to understand. If you make a great game, then people will buy it. You don’t need to worry about monetization, just make the best product you can. And this also helps you build a long term fanbase. I’m reminded of that quote “If you build it they will come”. I think it’s clear why.

Ok and old school Blizzard was definitely above them on that equation over the years. The sheer fact microtransactions are now the bread and butter of any released game anymore is pathetic. As an example, they fake success with the game due to microtransactions or anything bought in a store. Acti/Blizz is a prime example. They lost a crap ton of subs over the years but, because they add dumb stuff in the store for casuals to eat up. Each microtransaction gained was their way of showing success over a lost sub in the books.

Haha, well when it comes to blizzard I didn’t really play anything until Diablo 3 came out, then that whole fiasco with the auction house in that game happened.
Then with the cash cow that is hearthstone…
WoW has it’s own laundry list of issues-

I only mentioned Santa Monica and Fromsoft cause they’ve never, EVER had (warranted) negative PR with their fans!

They have negative PR with the game journalists who can’t git gud though

Don’t argue with him, he finds at least a few posts daily about cosmetics just to repeat that same thing. He’s a troll account

It would seem 343 thinks a single helmet is equivalent to +~11% of the whole campaigns retail price.

Peace and love  I think $5 is reasonable because I’m about to spend two thousand on a watch I don’t need and really can’t afford before a car :rofl: my priorities are messed up. If the bundle is $12 then $5 is reasonable and $7 is excessive lol for such a cool game and part of my childhood you know? I heard someone mention i tmcosts as much as a Starbucks coffee. I remember when I couldn’t afford Starbucks and coffee was 50cent in the hood. Now coffee is a dollar, and I can afford Starbucks and don’t go because they’re overpriced. And if their coffee was like two dollars less expensive, I still wouldn’t buy that garbage. So preference, priority, and I hope I didn’t miss out on fire fall for a long time cuz I didn’t buy it lol
